JiP Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 Okay, so about a month ago i aquired a KE50. I pormised that it would go to a good home and since then i have make up my mind about what i am going to do with it. I have decided that i will be restoring it. Thankfully the previous owners had tracked down and already wrecked another KE50 which i accepted the parts. I am thinking that the colour that i will be Blue because i think it looks good against the colour of the seats. Here is how she looks like currently. The interior, not my choice of colours. As you can see, the dash mat is screwed on  The steering wheel is my favorite. TRIP METER AND TACHO!!! TO BE CONTINUED... Quote
JiP Posted May 17, 2007 Author Report Posted May 17, 2007 (edited) Okay, lastly, i couldn't fit these pictures in that last post. Some of the panels **EDIT** Thats the BLUE i'm going. The seats. Now, the seats will need to be re trimmed but I'll take care of that when i get to it. I also have many many more parts that occupy up my garage. Edited May 17, 2007 by JiP_01 Quote
coln72 Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 That steering wheel is identical to the one that was on my KE35 Quote
Des Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 (edited) Sif, His ke30 is the best by far. Edited May 19, 2007 by AE70 Quote
JiP Posted May 22, 2007 Author Report Posted May 22, 2007 UPDATE... I've finally gotten around to taking the roof racks off the car. I did plan on taking the seats out of the car today but since i had to put the racks on Lolla yesterday, i had to repair the damage they made today. ;) Quote
flat out Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 the 50 looks tuff as is you should just paint the wheels gun metal and lower it in the ass Quote
JiP Posted May 27, 2007 Author Report Posted May 27, 2007 Okay, so tomorrow we are having a Kerbside Collection day and i took the chance to remove all the seats and and place them in in "Yoda" cause i don't have anywhere else to store them. Sadly i don't know what year KE50 these seats came out of. Pic time. The old seats Old Vs. New The old seats have a strip of vinyl above the cloth while the new ones have a padded head rest. I forgot to take a picture of this. Its a map reading lamp light. I think its cool. And the car as she sits now. Covered. Quote
pul58 Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Hi mate, looks good. i've got a few (newby) questions for you about the re-trimming. 1. Where in Brisbane are you getting it done? 2. How much have they quoted and what options are available (i.e. materials, colours) 3. Is it worth getting the door trims done at the same time and what would that cost? Cheers, and go easy on me. this is my first post, as i'm acquiring an old corolla in a month or so. Mark Quote
JiP Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 Hey mate, nah, I didn't get them re-trimmed. The previous owner had a spare car that he stripped and that's where i got these parts from. I've been quoted over a grand to have the whole interior redone. And apparently he was gonna give me a discount if i had the whole car done instead of one seat at a time. Sorry about that mate, Jon. pul58 Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 not worries mate. sounds good. when you say you were quoted 1G for the interior, what did that price include?ie. was that to restore it back to factory of is that for whatever you want. i'm just after a guide to updating interior, what is included and what prices they have. sorry for highjacking the thread. cheers, Mark Quote
Ke50 Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 you got a ke50!!! nice one!! that thing is overrated compared to what mine was before i fixed her up. dunno what they were thinking with the interior detailing.... vinyl paint and marine vinyl are your friends (black of course). love to see how this turns out. JiP Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 (edited) thanks mate, Luckily they gave me a whole KE50 worth of parts including a overrated dash, fairly good seats, trims, ceiling, carpet, good doors, boot, bonnet, all the wiring, original wheels and the center console still with its A/C controls. Sadly as I have multiple projects this car will have to wait in line cause the KE55 Hardtop is first and parts are readily available. Once done hopefully she will be fully restored back to stock. JiP Posted September 12, 2007 Author Report Posted September 12, 2007 (edited) Well today was moving day. The 50 has been moved to its new location at my sisters house. Dad wanted his lawn back, or what is left of it. Packing the car up this morning, all the tires in the boot were flat, so i got my jellybeans out. Looks tough as the rear end is up so high :locked: The diff change will have to come at a later time. And its final resting sopt. Up on stands as i don't want to ruin the tires when they go flat. TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 *Shudders* Ke50... hmmmm... I have to say, not the nicest looking rolla but my mate has one the same colour in Mildura (Vic). Trust me, the go really nicely with a built turbo 4k in them :D Especially on 14psi! Good luck with the project, should come up pretty sweet. Quote
