David[RL] Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 which engines will fit in a ke70 without very much work? 1.6l or bigger I don't wanna run EFI because then the conversion job will not cost too much money I have a 4k engine now 4A-G(E) ? 2T-G ? which toyota's can I find these in 3Y ? does this one fit in a ke70? demuire Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Wow, the number of times this has been covered... Without very much work? 7K-E, but that has EFI, but I suppose you could take the EFI off (although you probably wouldn't pass emissions then). Nothing else is "plug and play", everything else will require some form of fabrication etc. Quote
andrew Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 which engines will fit in a ke70 without very much work? why don't crowbars float? i would go a 4agze, 20v, or a 3sgte. but these have efi why don't you put efi on? as by the time you put these kind of donks in, you will have to fork out for a decent set of twin sidedrafts (or something) and a manifold to make it go any good, and end up paying more than efi, which is easier to maintain Quote
B-B-Benne Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) At Warwick TAFE, there's a suzuki mighty boy with a superchrged rover V8 mated to a manually controlled subaru automatic...its mid mounted...looks kinda angry... if you have the time, money and skill, MAKE IT FIT or lots of money. :) Edited December 30, 2005 by B-B-Benne Quote
love ke70 Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 anything will fit... just depends what end result you want as to what engine is a good choice Quote
boofis Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 ...and whether you want it on the road, then add ICV to your list lol. Quote
Super Jamie Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 independantly constructed vehicle. the only way to get a v8 gemini on the road. costs about $10-$15k for certification alone, then you have to build the car, AND make it as safe or safer than a brand new current-ADR car Quote
love ke70 Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 ooooh....so thats how come people say that you can put anything into anything, coz i always thought u couldnt, but if u make it as a ICV u can :D cool, thanks for that  Quote

They're actually more common with carbies than with EFI. And cheaper of course. He would know, he sells the bloody things. I would vouch for a 7K, I'm seriously considering dropping one into my KE70. They're 1.8L and bolt straight in. The vans they come out of are pretty hefty and built to carry a lot of junk, so I reckon the motors must have a fair bit of torque! Quote
rjenman Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 by the way, feel free to debate the KE70+7K idea some more  Quote
love ke70 Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 7k are torquey bastards from what ive heard, but i think if ur gonna do something go with something more fun..thats just me tho Quote
Xany Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 ^^^^^^ hes a bit loopy.....don't mind him i think the 7k will be my next project engine.....cause some people say that you can't get a 7k to "rev" high.... Most people that i talked to before i did my 5K conversion said the same thing about the 5K......but hang on.....mine revs out to bloody 8200rpm without valve boucing.....it stops making power around 7000rpm.....i think. So i wanna prove some people wrong.... Quote
rjenman Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 Yeah Chris from northside van and commercial reckons the 7K has the reputation of not revving because of the hydro lifters, and I mean, maybe that's the case for the 5K too like you're saying... so with a solid lifter conversion?.. So Teddy you reckon twin turbo and supercharger with a twincam head somehow adapted with EFI would be the go for a 7K? Good idea Quote
