Also tonight got the rear braided brake hose line in the car :y: Pics below: Looks AWESOME. Now to clean up the rest of under there..lol Also while I was in there noticed was dirty as so on weekend after putting clear coat on the car if I have time (going bass guitar jamming) ill be stripping the rear wheel wells and stone chipping them like I did the front arches so they look the part. Also will change the small rubber line from fuel tank to metal fuel pipe looks old don't wanna risk it. So that is the updates for now watch this space.... Cheers Cameron Quote
philbey Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Cam that's the rear eye and shackle bushes, have you done the front eyelet bushes as well? If so what did you use? I'm guessing the same kit, 47118 would do it but you'll have a couple of spares? I'll go you halves if you want. Mines got nolathane on the rear but stock on the front eyelets. TP. Quote
Undertaker_is_the_best Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 ^^^^http://www.yellowpages.com.au/qld/bundamba...49-listing.html Baileys Brake and clutch best shop in SEQ to get brake stuff done they did my master cyclinder booster all new hoses and all in my KE30 other week stops so well now and cheap :jamie: Any UPDATES: I got some more painting work done. I got all the front pannels off the KE15 and noticed one wheel well was half painted black other was fully black with a lot of dust/dirt and a lot of over spray orange. So I got excited thinking ill strip it right back new anti stone chip and have it all black again. To my amaze ment the original owner never washed this part of the car when he painted it the first time  So out came the tooth brush lots of degrees er and water and about 4 wash dry wash dry..etc cycles later it went from this: TO THIS: Now the above photo was a half way shot you can see the front is clean and there rear I hadnt done yet. I also then cleaned the rear half and then all over another 2 times but don't have a after I was done the whole thing photo ;) BUT long story short the guy who owned it painted over the white (original colour) still covered in dirt with black, got dirty again then painted car orange locking in more dust AHAHAH So jsut by depressing and washing I got the whole wheel arch to white again wish I had that photo..LOL So then I proceed to strip a few spots that looked like they were rusting and NO RUST. Apart from small spot in lower left of photos. So out came the stone chip and black paint and went crazy. Finished result: You can see how good this has come up looks a million bucks also did passenger side. Might as well do both sides when the whole front end is off the car do it properly once. CONT next post.... coming along very nicely well done looks brand new under there Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted October 30, 2009 Author Report Posted October 30, 2009 UPDATES Well not a full update but just a tease.....Think about it just think think about it................. Cameron Quote
Felix Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Looks interesting. Got 2 huh? What would you want for the second, providing it takes a 6" ring gear? You are going to be needing an LSD with those cheap tyres you have on the car, especially in the wet. I'm surprised you didn't put some decent rubber on it, tyres are the most important performance item you can fit to a car. With decent tyres you really wouldn't even need an LSD with a hot NA k series motor. Please tell me you have a front swaybar for it... Quote
mattress Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 I see you had one for sale on ebay not long ago. Did that one not fit? Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted October 30, 2009 Author Report Posted October 30, 2009 (edited) Hi, Yes well that it yes I own 2 KE1X LSD now Both TRD ones one has a TRD ring gear and WOW are the TRD ring gears made better it is a 3.9:1 ratio ring gear to. Felix since you last saw it car runs on 13 inch Kuhmo tires so yeah ditched the 12 inch rims and crap tires that were on it I think they were 20 year old they never would of passed a road worthie. mattress Yes I was selling the one on the left on ebay. It fits. But priced a new clutch pack for one of these bad boys $400+ (pending exchange rate, fitment, what type, If TRD have any in stock etc). So I decided to keep it as the one I was selling is loosely assembled as it has been re-built and never used :2thumbs: So to answer your question Fleix not for sale anymore. But if I come accross a third Ill let you know. One with ring gear has 5000Km on it non racing just road use. Fairy good clutches. Think one on left is 2 way one on right is 1 way not sure haven't inspected one on right of photo closely yet. Oh BTW Both these fit KE1X and take 6 inch ring gear Felix Both made by TRD. Also Front sway bar will be fitted these are not going in car any time soon. Planning on a full diff rebuild with the LSD center new rear leafs shocks rear sway bar also have spare KE1X struts in shed going to fully rebuild them to and fit them. All new bushes in car etc plan to go fairly full on on suspension. Also bought some new NOS LCA bushes for a KE1X car. Getting them remade in better material like nolathane bushes when I get time so I can keep making them and have spares for my car as they wear in another 20 years time..LOL Cheers Cameron Edited October 30, 2009 by camerondownunder88 Quote
Felix Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 No worries with the diff. I really don't need to be spending cash on the 15 atm anyway as I'm saving for a house, plus looking at a set of Bilsteins, springs and a set of Yoky S.Drives in the near future for my E32. I wasn't talking about the 12" tyres but those budget Admiral tyres (they are a Kumho's bottom of the range line) in the pic a few pages back on Robs old rims. Sorry man, but ever since Rob converted me to performance tyres it makes me cringe whenever I see someone on here Improving the performance of their car, yet cheaping out on the single most important component of the car.... ie. the tyres, which are the only thing keeping your car stuck to the road. All that suspension work and LSD is just hype when you cripple the car with $70 tyres. Surely you must place a higher value on your life and performance/safety of your car??? Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 (edited) AND IT IS ON THE ROAD..... If you have all read carefully some threads on here you will notice that the car has been on the road now about 4 months..LOL I'm slow to update..LOL ALl I can say is these cars are SO SO SO SO much fun to drive. Everywhere I go people look ask questions and love riding in the car is AWESOME. And like normal after having acar sit after driving it for a bit a list of small things to fix grows. Below is a list of what I have compiled so far. Most things are small rattles or comfort or jsut need done for safety etc. -front suspension upgrade (sway bar, custom springs, KE20 tops new bushes etc) - Rear passenger side shock gone so wheel scrubs out :no2: Must get new shocks ASAP. - Heater core busted :( have to fix asap winter coming. - oil leak front harmonic balancer seal - badly want to put in an over flow catch tank for radiator (fun not having one but prob a very sensible thing to add does help) - gear stick knob has some glue residue on it want cleaned off makes hand sticky when driving. - drivers door hinge adjusted (I re-pinned but needs adjusting hard to close and not sitting right) - New Bailey channel for windows - throttle cable way to stiff to move gotta play around here (installed a NOS item but jams up bad. etc jsut needs adjustment) - I stuffed wheel alignment so gotta redo it. - adjust steering stops (can turn left more than I can turn right..LOL) - put rubber stoppers along front guards for bonnet (stop it movign heaps and keep dirt out.) - install "old school spot lights with HID mod" (stock lights crap wose than my KE30 so night driving an issue) - fix 1 small tear in driver's seat (simple seam needs re stiching) - find a KE1X jack. (has a KE3X jack in boot and it will not fit mount so rolls around) - Glove box lid rattles needs rubber tabs to stop vibration and re adjustment. - one break light bulb is half faded needs a new one - fuel cap door lock busted needs new one - passenger 1/4 window needs a lube. - change diff oil. -Fins or wipers so they stay on windscreen at 60mph LOL Faster I go to the higher they go..LOL - rear window venation - New bushes in front leaf spring eyes. - install KE3X thermostat housing and use KE3X heater hose to re hook up heater. - Install after market cam a KE70 4K-C cam is SHIT ina 5K - fix throttle pedal rod jams up wont slide smoothly. - rear parcel shelf coverng starting to come off re glue - new wooden screeen for boot to cover fuel tank needs making - install old school air filters sponge type - enjoy car more - replace rear wheel beaarings - get speedo calibrate (well at least prove how accurate it is) - Straight through pipe made up for exhaust forpossible track days and jsut when i wanna have to much noise and fun As you can see not to much to do. So watch this space as things happen. Below is a Pic just before I put the plates on it the day I got rego :P Edited April 30, 2010 by camerondownunder88 Quote
Trev Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Will have to take it over to show the old guy where you got it from. Quote
parrot Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Been hanging out for this update! In reality, they are never finished. Be boring if they were. So did one of those LSD centres find its way into the diff?? Love it Cam! Quote
Felix Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Good stuff Cameron. Oops forgot about getting a pic of my jack for you. Try to remember over the weekend. Yea they're meant to be driven. More fun then your 30/55? Silly question I know. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted May 1, 2010 Author Report Posted May 1, 2010 Well from the top... Trev: Actually funny you mention the old owner. a week after having it on the road I looked up his address again and could only see his wife listed :( THough He had passed. But went over anyway to show her possible him and both were still there :P And he loved it they were both nearly in tears and kept telling me I had done a great job was awesome to see it back on the road with the twin carbies etc all back on. They asked lots of questions since he raced it a bit like is it fast win races in town etc..LOL Had to laugh. SO they throughly liked me taking it back to them was there for about 2 hours while they crawled over it I took them for a spin etc think I made their year. Was funny at first I rocked up they couldn't see the car parked on the drive way and they though I was selling stuff took a bit to get them to come look soon as they saw the car they remembered :no2: parrot: Yes been slow..LOL, In a way id rather it kinda never finished..LOL I just wanna do a few comfort things like stopping some rattles etc as I drive girl friend gets annoyed after a while in it..LOL Also should add to list have to: - install my original KE1X aircon system - Install LSD - Rebuild a good 5K motor. Need a new 5K should have posted it but when I put the motor together I must have buggered the rear seal so leaks oil and out the front harmonic balancer it leaks to so kinda REALLY annoying but hey that's what you get when it sat for a while so will have to write-up a big post with my plans etc for the engine. Felix: Yes jack pics a must :( And WAY better to drive than KE30. You actually have to drive it..LOL I let a mate drive it the other week who had never driven a car with such a light weight short wheel base and pre 1980..lol He couldn't drive it. had no clue about some basic driving skills you need to make a car like this handle so car has tought me a lot (spun out 2 times on road within first week of having it ont he road) so you do learn to respect it and every time I get in this car to drive it is AWESOME. Nothing can top it really when it comes to motoring I belive. Oh on a side note. KE1X strut top stud pattern. Do KP61 strut tops fit or are there any T3 strut tops that bolt in fit?? Who knows Parrot?? Cheers Cameron Quote
parrot Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 Ask Homers_KE17 about the strut tops. He got some from technotoytuning. Time for a new girlfriend..... Well maybe not :P I have only driven mine a short distance prior to parking it up, and after driving only modern fuel injected, power steering cars for years, found mine almost undriveable. Can't wait to get it going and learning to 'drive' again!! Very interested to hear how you get on with the LSD centre. Could see one of those in mine me thinks. My AE86 was transformed when I put the LSD in. Quote
parrot Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 This is what my jack looks like, complete with factory padding to stop it rattling! At least that was how it came from the original owner. I presume it is the original jack. Quote
