SLO83 Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 sure looks like it. <-------i have a corolla ute in my avtar Quote
7shades Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 (edited) Nope... its a rolla.... well, sorta. Its a Toyota, and it has a 4k motor. The Publica chassis (P) preceded and eventually became the Starlet. This particular ute is a KP30 I think... they sold these things right up until 1988 in some asian countries. Never sold in AU but there's a few survivors in NZ and shiteloads in Asia. Edited April 28, 2007 by 7shades Quote
corolla-ute Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 thanks shades you are the closest so far....would appreciate as much info as possible...so far project is going well Quote
Nitephyre Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 (edited) As shades said... Toyota Publica ute. P chassis became Starlet. Rare in .au. Everyone mistakes them for Datto or Mazda utes. Google is your friend Edited April 28, 2007 by Nitephyre Quote
JiP Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 WoW, looks hot and its in BrisVegas :) Do you have another shot of the front end?? That grille looks so much like my KE30's grille. Quote
7shades Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 I am impressed at how clean it is.... most that I've seen are banged up farm utes... So when are you putting the 12a in :) Quote
Gavclassic Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Its a Publica ute, Al Palmer here in Sydney has one for his workshop runaround. he imported it from Japan a few years back. Most people think its a 1200 ute. There is a Publica wagon on Ebay for sale at the moment in Victoria. :) Quote
Jono Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 yeah, i've seen one in sydney, driven by a guy who is a panelbeater down at narrabeen. Gav, is this where Al Palmer works? i thought it was a 1200 ute until i saw the toyota badge on its ass and i got all exited... Quote

JiP Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 (edited) I would never pick that out as a Toyota. Tho, the bumper, apron and indicators remind me of a KE2X and the strip that goes around the bonnet/quarters remind me of a KE3X. Who knows, I've probably seen this and just thought its a Datsun. Any tips in telling them apart?? Edited April 29, 2007 by JiP_01 Quote

Any tips in telling them apart?? 1200's have a quarter vent and window where the toyota has only window....also the front guards are tappered on the toyota where the 1200's are not.. the doors are a little larger and there is more room inside .if all this fails to help you recognise the difference between the two vehicles look at the badges on vehicle i find it's a lot easier lol lol lol lol Quote
