FONX Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Hi all, I am putting an sc12 on my 5k, running it through a 4k efi setup. I have already done a search on here, and elsewhere and have found a lot of interesting material but am always after more. What I am looking for are pictures of this kind of setup or similar, specifically how the supercharger is mounted (in as much detail as possible), as we have only an idea as to how to go about doing it. Are all sc12s shaped the same way, with the inlet on the dipstick side and the outlet facing away from the pulley? How did everyone get around this? Also interested in what ecu I should use and also where I should get it from, and maybe a heads-up on any other trouble I am likely to run into. Thanks P.S, I just thought of anther two points, what ehaust size is ideal for this setup, would 2 inch do? and I read about throttle body before and after supercharger making a difference in noise and performance, which is best? and is the noise likely to cause problems for a warrent/cert? And also a larger throttle body is supposed to be better, which one could I use? Thanks again Quote
Raven Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 As far as I'm aware people cut, rotate and then reweld the piping to get the desired angles for this type of set-up. Quote
blown 5k Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 2" exhaust is fine for the power output you`ll probably be making, loop over the inlet pipe over the top of the supercharger towards the drivers side headlight area, injectors too small for any boost at all mine ran out of duty cycle as soon as it was flat on n/a let alone came on boost, throttle bodies pretty small on them for sure so an upgrade wouldnt hurt on mine i built a new inlet manifold because i didnt like the 4k-e design and thought it was pretty restrictive. Throttle body has to go in front of the charger or you had better have a solenoid cut as soon as you get off the throttle or you`ll stall the blower/engine because it will try and boost against the throttle plate and boost will go ballistic very quickly, blow off valves sound absolutely horrible on them so don't go there. Ecu get a link, don't muck around trying to use a standard ecu you`re wasting your time or get a different aftermarket ecu. Quote
madrolla68 Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Why not plumb back BOV? That is one option BUT it needs to be solenoid operated otherwise it will bleed of boost as soon as its loaded up. I did this ona VL commodore and it was a constant pain in the arse always leaking and chattering. Quote
Felix Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 If the throttle body is after the supercharger you really need a bypass valve. Quote

Yeah I forgot about that problem, my brother experienced the same thing with his RA40 Celica Supercharged 18RG on LPG but his only did it at idle, as soon as the throttle was applied it was fine.
