Emerson Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Has anyone tried fitting a 1JZ-GTE into there corolla and if so how much has it upset the balence of the car. Also how easy was the conversion.
Des Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Well you will have 2 or 3 cylinders in front of the crossmember which will upset it, A 1jz into a corolla will not be cheap. A 1ggte looks very tight in a Ke70/Ae71 engine bay so a 1jz would be a killer to fit in. Think about the things that have to be done to fit it in: Intercooler + piping. Wiring + aftermarket computer. Gearbox tunnel mods + custom crossmember. Custom engine mounts or crossmember. Custom tail shaft. Will need a much stronger diff ie hilux. Fuel system upgrades. Exhaust. Radiator will most likely have to be mounted on the other side of the radiator support panel. Stock suspension wont do. Brakes will need to be upgraded. This is a Member from Toymods with Xt130 corona with a 1jz in it, Mind you Coronas are a bigger car but you get the idea.
Emerson Posted April 24, 2007 Author Report Posted April 24, 2007 I see what you mean it is verrrrrrry cramped in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Corolla_Kid Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Don't be put off mate. Their is a couple of guys on here with straight 6 conversions in a ke20 so anythings possible really. mmmm 2jz power would be sweet!
Redwarf Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Google. Someone somewhere has probably done it. This is also not a conversion I can see you doing it in the near forseeable future. I think it's also been discussed elsewhere, hence I'm closing this thread.
