ancullen Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 (edited) I was browing the Temple of VTEC (yes, I also like Hondas) and came across the following images from the recent New York International Motor Show. The new WRX is SOOOO boring!!! And it looks like they've gained influence from a Kia Rio for the back with a Honda Civic for the front. It's not ugly, just plain boring. I hope STi go to town on it for their versions, as they might be able to improve it if they just make it as wild as the current version is. As for the new LX570 (read: 200 series Land Cruiser), it seems okay, but sits a bit low, which seems to throw out some of the proportions. Obviously Lexus will have a lower version than the 'proper' Land Cruiser. I'll be interested in seeing the engine specs though, as this is the new 5.7L V8 Toyota/Lexus have just developed. In the Toyota Tundra it makes 381hp (284kW) and 401lb/ft (541Nm), but one would hope Lexus would have an improved version. New WRX Sedan Front New WRX Sedan Side New WRX Sedan Rear New Impreza Hatch 3/4 View (also to be released in WRX spec) New Impreza Hatch Rear Lexus LX570 Front Lexus LX570 Side Lexus LX570 Rear (anyone else think this vies is reminiscent of the VW Toureg or Porsche Cayenne?) BTW, just checked the Lexus site (www.lexus.com) and they say that the new LX570 will have 'over 380hp'. As 381hp is technically 'over 380hp', I don't hold much hope for motor suitable for a Lexus - not that 380hp is anything to look down at, I just wanted more. :) Edited April 10, 2007 by Wood§tok fixed pics Quote

demuire Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I think they're both ugly. WRX is such a disappointment. From the front, it looks just ugly. Nissan Pulsar? Or some other ugly car. Just ugly. From the side, it looks like a Camry. Slab sided, uninteresting, boring and ugly. From the back? Kia Rio. Bah, so disappointed. Subaru need to get a new car designer person. In comparison, the EvoX looks so much betterer... Quote
Trev Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 There was a post on Twincam.info about the wrx, I said it before and i will say it again... LOOKS LIKE SHITE The lexus on the other hand is horn, It still looks like a 100 series cruiser so atleast they kept it inline with the toyota/lexus previous models unlike the subaru. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I would love to know what subaru marketing people do to sell a car that ugly. "Subaru - Its fast i swear" And the lexus, well, yeah, its sorta pajero like with the fenders like they are, id never buy something which was that expensive and such a waste of resources to make and run. Its looks arent as offensive to me. Quote
JiP Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I kinda like the back of the WRX. But i do think that the designers for all companies are running out of ideas. Quote
Des Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I like the Cruiser but then again i like all Cruisers, Go figure. Quote
Jason Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 (edited) lexus is awesome, subaro = suck the wrx looks like a dawoo Edited April 11, 2007 by Jason Quote
ancullen Posted April 12, 2007 Author Report Posted April 12, 2007 I could see all the pictures the whole time - I don't know what you guys were bitching about. :kiwi: And in relation to the LX570 - I saw one of the new 79-series 5-doors today. We've been talking about them at work (about when we can order some), and we'd been told they weren't available yet. So I've got some interesting images on my mobile phone to show my fellow employees tomorrow. :) Interestingly the sticker on the rear quarter says 4500 D4-D, but I don't think it mentioned a turbo. The bonnet scoop gave it away though. Quote
Xany Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 In my opinion, subaru really need to rethink what the WRX stood for back in the mid to late ninetys. It was a car that looked aggressive, handled nice and had a nice donk. This tripe they are building now, looks like a friggen family car than a sports car. Wheres the agressivness of the body lines that made the WRX what it was back in those days. I'd have a 22B anyday over this crap. Quote
SoulSearcher Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 When I went to the motorshow in Adelaide last week, I had a look at the WRX's, but they didn't look like the above ones, but I did take a piccy of the engine bay, :kiwi: Engine bay of the subaru :) Quote
