Retrospekt Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 (edited) Recently bought a ke20 off a forum member and local, has replaced my ke55 as a project car as i like these shapes better. had bought a 2tg/3t hybrid for the 55 and it seemed a waste to try and sell the engine as i would never get what has been spent by me so far and the previous owner so its down the resto road i go. hopefully getting the rust fixed up within the next week, then a new paint job to keep it in good nick for a while longer. most probably end up white, not too fussy on colours etc. it will just be a car for fun so interior will be 2 seats and some aluminum trim, maybe a half cage if it flexes too much, anyone who can give me ideas on suspension and brake upgrades for a ke20 would be most loved, its the only part I'm abit lost on. engine thats going in is a 2tg/3t hybrid has been at the end of my bed for awhile now paitently waiting, once again just waiting to find time when I'm not working to pass the mani over to mr wegener for porting, the rest is just getting hoses and the exhaust done. anyways time for pics, will post engine mods when i check the head and block number and find the other reciepts. cheers Nathan. Retrospekt Posted April 5, 2007 Author Report Posted April 5, 2007 mmmm morning, nasty habit of not being able to sleep in thanks to working at 5am each day anyways engine mods list is here, its fairly comprehensive and we are expecting big power, like silly power for a na engine. so the list goes: 222 head (6 bolt front double valve spring head) ported and polished head flow to 214 hp custom 1 piece stainless ferera valves (roughly same size as v8 chev) kolbenschmidt pistons cams by sure cam crane double valve springs iwis roller chain romac adjustable timing gears 10.5/1 comp ratio ajusa gasket set 220 block 3t crank and rods lightened and balanced ndc and clevit bearings hi volume oil pump 7l baffled sump other parts: 45mm dellortos redline manifold (dodgy people, everyone i have spoken to has not had a straight fit mani from them) triple core aluminum radiator (cut down v8 super car!!) procomp pc91 coil and; pc6al ignition thingy (Multi-Spark Capacitor Discharge Ignition) 2 x t50 20 spline from memory and 3inch tailshaft with custom uni joints its was built for a ipra race car so it should go ok, made to make lots of torque and is classed as a 1600 but really its 1800, the block has grooves cut in to fit the crank ;) instead of using the identifiable bigger block. laters guys, and thanks for the comments :) Quote
Jono Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 congrats dude, should be a beast! a few people on here are doing some good brake upgrades for these cars - i'm sure Raven is sorting something out and can point you in the right direction. i just went for ke55 discs and booster but you will obviously need something a bit more track worthy! 7shades Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 mmmm I'm lookin at the merc coupe in the shed..... :) Quote

Retrospekt Posted April 13, 2007 Author Report Posted April 13, 2007 as of Monday the car will be off getting the rust repaired, the same guy wants to paint it and is willing to do a nice price on torana barbados green, yellow or white. thinking the green, would look funny methinks Quote
jamesrolla Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 the green would look shweet as, do it, then finish her off with some black centred rims with chrome lip or something with black on it Quote
Retrospekt Posted April 13, 2007 Author Report Posted April 13, 2007 yeah i was thinking of getting superlights made up, although i do like the simmons b45 and the simmons alta Quote
ROLLLA Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 go the b45's son lol seriously old school car needs old school classic rims. Simmons are easier to find in your 4x110 stud pattern cos its the same as the old rota's. Ebay it like i did. And how much power is that engine producing cos doesnt sound like chassis twisting performance so i wouldnt waste my money on a half cage. Quote
Retrospekt Posted April 14, 2007 Author Report Posted April 14, 2007 we have a dyno sheet from before the head porting for about 140hp atw. more concerned about flex while cornering, and adding some more weight towards the rear Quote
ROLLLA Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 ah ok thats fair enuf if ya worried about the cornering aspect cos ye 140hp at the wheels aint gonna flex. Should be a good little project. all the best. Quote
jamesrolla Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 i reckon black centred superlites with a polished lip would look mean on a green 20, but simmons will prob end up cheaper Quote
