10ROLLA Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 hey guys might be a stupid question but how hard and whats the cost of gettin eletric window into a ke10? and if so, can i put the winders back in if i want to bring it back to original granny spec? cheers myles! Quote
philba Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Autobarn and supercrap and places like that sell them, for probably around the $100 mark. And I'd say you would be able to take them back out to return it to granny spec Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 I've never seen electric windows for sale in supercheap auto. Fitting electric windows to a car that didn't come with them as a factory option would be ALOT of work. Quote
Corolla_Kid Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Check out chris_GT's project ke35 as he is currently putting them in. Quote
YKE 20T Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 ditto rollaboy. if it didnt come out with power windows its going to be a pain in the ass. youre going to have to install electric motors, figure out mounts for the motors, sort out exactly how the motor will move the window up and down the track. sounds like a definate pain. Valandor Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 its actually pretty easy to set up. mount motor put a small ring over the crank and mount the switches. kits cost anything from around $300 mark. don't know about qld but if you to go www.toyotacarclub.net and pm a guy called blue wire he can set you up with a set. http://www.a1electric.com/install/chevy/chev15.htm for someone doing it on an old chevvy Quote
Felix Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Why bother. It isn't hard to simply lean across and wind up or down the passenger window. The ke10's are pretty narrow inside. Quote
10ROLLA Posted April 2, 2007 Author Report Posted April 2, 2007 felix, i no its not hard but the teeth on my winders have been near on shreded off, so was just wondering how hard it is, sounds like a fair bit of work so i might just buy some after market ones, thanks for all the info guys myles! Felix Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Is it the winder mechanisms, or the winder handles that are worn on yours? Quote
Felix Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 (edited) If you interested, and I get the chance on the weekend, I can have a look for some for you. I have a ke10 with a heap of spares at my mother in laws place. There are a couple of extra doors there, think they may still have the winder mechanisms in them. Doug.
