This thing was insane!!! Clock in the old university in Christchurch. Looks very London like! w00t. Me and dad finished 1.125L of rum in 9 days! Turbo on the campervan :P Engine shot. This thing made some crazy power. 5cyl turbo intercooled diesel Bonnie Blue...the 737-800. Worked on her Rob? shes a finnnee craft mmm...winglets are cool. Got HEAPS of shots of clouds mid-flight Final approach into Brisbane Just a comment on Pacific Blue. Great airline...GOD DAMN HOT AIR HOSTESS' I may have a piccy somewhere :P 12 valve starlet?? WTF? Thats all for now. More later Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 12V starlets are EP71s, all of them in australia are imports. my mate owen just bought one. 2E-FTE motor, probably makes about 70kw at the bags on 16psi. they had two inlet valves per cyl i think, not sure http://superjamie.fotki.com/cars/lismore_s...lismore-24.html http://superjamie.fotki.com/cars/lismore_s...lismore-25.html http://superjamie.fotki.com/cars/lismore_s...lismore-26.html http://superjamie.fotki.com/cars/lismore_s...lismore-27.html Quote
irokin Posted August 5, 2004 Author Report Posted August 5, 2004 sounds like a pretty shitty motor Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 sounds like a pretty stock motor. the suspension is stiff so it handles like a go kart, its actually quite amazing, i'm thinking "yeah he'll brake soon. he's gotta brake soon. ok we're not taking that corner" then owen just goes *turn* and i'm like WHOA! with 4E injectors and toluene it made 96kw at the wheels. running around on stock injectors and 9psi it doesnt throw you back in your seat or anything, but it's a fun little car and perfect for owen - it's his color, it sneezes, it looks ricey and it's certainly unique. it was an autosalon mag car a few years ago. and like, check the carbon fibre dash, nice the fixed back race seats and back seat aren't for anyone much larger than me though. the number plate means "G force", took me yonks to figure that one out  look i've hijacked another thread :S Quote
MD0086 Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 Argh the memories come flodding back Queenstown is the best place ever How fun is the luge eh?? the best thing is beating all the little kids and they crack the shits lol Did you go to the Coronet Peak or any of the other ski areas they are really nice and pretty fun? Michael I think ill have to go back now  Quote
irokin Posted August 5, 2004 Author Report Posted August 5, 2004 We went to cardrona...it was much fun  Quote
Redwarf Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 (edited) Bonnie Blue? ZK-PBA, ex VH-VOQ I think. Yes, I've got my name on that one a number of times. It was a Virgin Blue delivered a/c, then transfered to the NZ register. Always been painted Pathetic Blue colours though. I used to have to do the ETOPS inspection on it each BNE turn. (ETOPS: Extended time operations, or engines turning or passengers swimming!) Winglets are an aftermarket option, I believe they're about $750k US for the pair, and it takes about two days to fit. Its about a 2 or 3% fuel saving at cruise. You makeyour money back in about 18 months, I think.... Edited August 5, 2004 by Redwarf Quote
demuire Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 Wow, if winglets take that long to earn their keep, I wonder how long it takes an airline to pay an aircraft off... Quote
Redwarf Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Most airlines lease aircraft. Virgin have only just started to buy theirs, and only own maybe 10 out of 45 odd a/c. Its about $55m US odd to buy one. You can occasionally get an aircraft that will have one or sometimes two leased engines on it, so one company will own the airframe, and two other companies the engines. In the Ansett days, each seat was apparently worth about $300k in revenue per year. http://boeing.com/commercial/prices/ Here's an old price list, but you get the picture. Irokin, sorry, I think I've dragged it O/T again. Quote
irokin Posted August 6, 2004 Author Report Posted August 6, 2004 Nope OT is cool ZK-PBA she is indeed. We flew over and back on the same craft. http://www.improperorder.com/irokin/NZ/smallIMG_5598.jpg I'll have to go find the CDs with the rest of the photos.
