shooter Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 hey ive had a look around and a talk to some people bout what engine to mount into the ke30, was orginally siding with a 2tg with dual carbs cuz my brother is doing it so knowledge, parts, being bolt in and so forth make it easy to do but they are old getting scarce and need rebuilding. the other was the 4A's out of which the 4agze looks worthwhile, but are pretty pricey with limited aftermarket parts. Then the 4age silvertop don't know much about them but can imagine they would be on the same lines as the gze for aftermarket parts. Then the blacktop (which i can get a top end for with runnning gear)and thought might work on a GZE bottom end ( cuz it has forgies already in it and would be cheaper than the blacktop bottom end) Then there was the CA18DE or T. i beliave the 4a's bolt up to the T50's but what diff to run on what kind of apllication kinds to mind. Then if i was to get a diff to go hilux for noise and reliability , or commodore for price and availibility and brakes. All in all my mind is about to explode with what to do but in the end i want to take it on the track so suspension , brakes and reliability need to be taken into conideration as well as repairs and involved costs!!!! anastasios Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 worked 5k, or 7k it all depends on your budget Quote
Des Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 4agze after market parts are every where, Cam gears, Cams, New pistons, New crank pulleys, race bearings you name it. :D Quote
doityourself Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 If you are after some performance, I suggest you should try my next motor I am building for my KE30. 3K Turbo Its pretty simple really. bore 60 thou chrome moly rings stock flat top pistons - ceramic coated top and Teflon coated side skirts (adds to piston life) standard crank - balanced standard flywheel - remove 2 kg and balanced 8.5cr 4K head - ceramic coated valves, port matching, new valve springs (25 pounds stiffer than stock) standard intake and exhaust manifolds port matched to head - exhaust manifold is single plane type. turbo manifold - J pipe steam pipe 45mm inside dia, from exhaust manifold to turbo mounted forward of engine. custom pipe work from turbo to custom carby box, mounted to 32/36 Weber for blow through application. Turbo is a T20 from Nissan N12 Exa / ET Turbo (mine has been high flowed, now same A/R as T25) Timing is simple, lock advance plates in dizzy (weld them), and remove vacuum advance line(s), will be running approx. 20 degrees before TDC Fuel will be a 10psi carter fuel pump - (as a rule of thumb for any blow through carby set up, run 3 psi more fuel than boost.) Clutch will be a Exceedy HD. Hope that sparks some interest for you. I was inspired by my mate 3T-C turbo set up in a T18. Cheers Dale J. Quote
shooter Posted March 24, 2007 Author Report Posted March 24, 2007 (edited) not really after a K motor prefer a twin cam. the work to put it in is going to be done by a guy i work with in exchange for wiring his shed up, hes done a heap of engine swaps and theres bout 6 of them there including 2 qualified mechanics to work on it. i guess its more of a decision between the 4AGZE and the CA18DET , but i don't know what work has to be done to fit the CA, where i know a bit of what bolts up tot he 4a's. any info would be gr8, iv had a search and still am researching but personnal info thats straight forward would be great! thank you Edited March 24, 2007 by shooter Quote
shy_77c Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 this is a situation that depends on how much you want to spend i guess. I have a sr20de+t in my corolla, commodore diff, commodore brakes all round. it really isnt that hard to make an sr20 fit if you have someone that is engineering mined and knows how to weld. the most expansive parts have been been the diff the computer and turbo. but what ever your budget was double it at least. good luck, if you do go sr20, don't hesitate to ask for help Quote
shooter Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 yeah ive sided witht the 4agze, aftermarket computer(microtech?) and am looking into the commodore breaks and diff setup with LSD.I spoke to a guy to other day who is helping with the conversion and he said the T50's bolt up the 4agze's but has to be a 22spline box with some side plates otherwise an internal bearing goes!? so is it the JDMt50 i need or can i get a JDM bellhousing and through a 22spline box in? ive set a rough budget of 8-10K but i also have to cut rust, redo the paint, get some half decent rims, suspension, gauges, racing seats and any other involved costs for the conversion. Des Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 A t50 from a ae71 or ae86 will fit and is the right gearbox. Quote
shy_77c Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 in regards to yours rust if your in sydney i know a guy who did my rust who is an old school panel beater. he is very very well priced and takes alot or pride in his workmenship. He's about 65 which is why the work he does seems to be so good, no corners cut at all. Quote
ca18rolla Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 just use the standard box from the 4a it ll save you any dramas and fill fit in the tunnel you need a custom tailshaft anyway. Just make a crossmember to bolt it up to the ke30. I went ca18det fit piece of piss just alter standard front cross member and bolted in use range rover engine mounts.Custom g/box cross member and just had to cut shifter locatio 3-4 inches futher back. Hilux diff fitted rn10-13 real early model and used a detroi lsd as hulux and commodore are known for there shit oem lsd's. Hopper stopper 5 stud conversion and xr8 brakes were used on the front to match the hiluw sdtud pattern. xy-el wheels work the front and au-ba for the back. Good luck Quote
ke553sgte Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 G-day mate, my brother has a 3sgte in a ke30 amd I have a ke55 with a 3sgte in it the conversion is not as hard and expesive as most think. with the right parts and its a sinch. good motor, w-series gearbox, mazda RX4 diff (28 spline axles), tail shaft and a bit of playing with wiring and water system and your away. the result is well worth the effort. either way good luck with the conversion you choose.
