2TGEU KE35 Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 i wash told that that was a c@#$ Quote
Jono Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 pay someone to do it? i paid $100 for my new saab rims to be sandblasted. Quote
flat out Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 if there alloy don't blast em, it pits the alloy, if its steal there fine, $100 it a rip off, i pay $10 a bike frame + forks + cranks if there alloy get them acid dipped Quote
Jono Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 $100 isn't much money at all for saving hours of work. i charge $65 per hour so its less than two hours work. i'm sure it would have taken me more than two hours to sort the rims out. Quote
2TGEU KE35 Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 rims are watanabes. well Black Racing copies. are they alloy or steal. I'm guessing they are alloy. where would i get them acid dipped. ive got 98% sulphuric acid at my work that would work?? Quote
flat out Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 no idea, theres a in tas called dip n strip, i think he uses some organic crap, got a bike frame done a year ago. bout $40 all i had to do was steel wool it ready for paint peace out casey Quote
2TGEU KE35 Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 well i guess i can ask around a few mates that are into bikes cos they might know where to go. pce. Quote
cuzzo Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 have you tried just paint stripper from bunnings? Make sure you wear gloves. Also I'm not sure if it will eat the alloy, but i don't think so. Try it on a small area first. maybe on the inside of the wheel. Quote
anastasios Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I'm sure there are places that acid dip in perth, ask around at panelbeaters or spraypainters Quote
Wood§tok Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 don't dip your wheels in sulphuric acid. don't dip anything in it for that matter. cheers. Quote
