On the weekend I got a ride in an R33 GTR which was only running 8psi of boost but does a 12.2 quarter at the street drags. The guy was hammering it around the witches hats (on the rally) with me in the passenger seat, and it was easily the fastest I've ever gone sideways! The accleration on that thing was freakin' awesome!!! Of course, I was laughing too much to notice any turbo lag.

oh don't get me wrong, i love being a passenger in my mate's 11 second rex, especially when he's racing or doing over 200km/h just cos he can ;) but driving a car is WAY different to just being in a car

on the engine conversion topic, i have an sr20 in my rolla and it hardly stands out in the crowd. lookin back, i wish i went for a nissan vg20dett v6..(300zx ish).... it would be completely legal, and the weight of the motor could be pushed back closer to the firewall. handleing! i don't know about the width though........ ;)

Then again, I'd rather have a fast car that I can drive slow, than a slow car that I can't drive fast...

Couldn't agree more. While fun can be had in most cars, a truely fast car (especially one that you've worked on yourself) is always going to be more fun and more satisfying.

I like having a slow car that looks like it might go fast, and bluffing people by pretending I'm not even bothering trying to wallop them from the lights. When in reality I'm going pedal to the metal.

LOL! I like challenging cars to a drag when I KNOW beyond any doubt that they're going to thrash me. But that's mostly just so I can see a). how fast their car looks as it zooms off, and b). how much of a moron the other driver is to think that I think I've got a chance. :y: Like when I raced my Galant against a Lamborghini Countach =)

NOTE: I actually beat them off the line, because I didn't sit there revving my engine up, I just waited till the lights went green, stomped the accelerator, got the nose of my car about 50cm in front of their nose, then they realised I was trying to beat them and they stomped their accelerator and half a second later they were about 50 metres in front of me. FUN!!! :y:
