TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 (edited) Well, after a big day at work and being busy around home I made my way to Calder park raceway for a look, hoping to catch up with Muller in the process... I missed him by about 10mins! Mind you, it was 9pm! As it was the first event for the year they had a day/night meeting, I tell you what, it made for a great nights viewing. Shat all over sitting on the couch! I must admit, I have fallen in love with the Super Tin Top class! You can pretty much run whatever car you like as long as it has the balls to keep up with the pack! In one race they had 2 Ex glen seaton v8 supercars, a gt40 replica, various rx7's, rotary powered Gemini's, a Porche, a Volvo and a clubman 7 style car! Sure beats boring v8 supercars on the tv! The 2 litre class was a blast as well! No less than 4 Rollas in the ranks made it very good to watch, Muller was telling me that the white ke25 was 3sge powered, I know the red 25 is blacktop powered (met him at rnd 5 last year), the yellow beast runs an sr20 with a couple of webbers or the like and the blue rocket is running a 7age combo thats now a 1.9l with a wild custom head! Got to love the 1, 2, 5, 6 finishing places for them too! Anyway, as I didnt think I was going to make it (I just got home, racing finished at 11:15!) I didnt take my camera so you will have to put up with some motorolla shots! Enjoy! (I hope...) Cheers, J. Edited February 17, 2007 by TheNOBBLER Quote
Redwarf Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 It's scary, Steve Frawley and Cammy John were running back in the day when I was down there. Steve Frawley looks to have changed cars though, as I think his old car maybe residing in Qld now. Either that or it was Steve Hallidays Corolla....... Can't remember. Off for a lie down. Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted February 18, 2007 Author Report Posted February 18, 2007 Cheers, not bad for a mobile phone! Steve Frawly's 25 is one nice piece of work, its running an almost std blacktop and manages to be quite competitive with the 2litre cars... great to watch! The blue 2 door in the bottom left is running a really interesting setup, he cut the intake side of the head off and made his own with a piece of alloy. I havent seen it as yet (bonnet was taped shut) but from what he was telling me its a really wild setup. Hows a jump from 86rwkw to 125ish rwkw with the new head! Quote

Neonasty Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 This sounds great. When is the next one? Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted February 20, 2007 Author Report Posted February 20, 2007 They have a stack of events in Vic over the year, will post up the dates tomorrow. Sadly, this was the only day/night event listed but we will see what happens. The Vic guys and gals will most likely have another get together/bbq for a race day in the near future... Yeah, that VN was pretty mad, sounded great! But my favourite car in that league was the 80's Honda prelude running a spaceframe chassis and a rather large V8rwd setup! Quote
