decoop Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 I have just brought my first ae71. I just did a search, i was gunna ask about putting a twin cam head on the 4ac, but heard it was a waste of time. mine is an auto and that was why i was trying to find out so i did'nt have to piss fart around with flywheels. Having said that, has anyone bolted a 4age up to the standard auto?. What is involved? Quote

Having said that, has anyone bolted a 4age up to the standard auto?. What is involved? u don't have to change your crossmember as the 4age will bolt to the ae71. you will have to get a 8 bolt flexplate(flywheel) get one off a 4age bigport auto and your ae71 converter bolts to this, then its pretty easy after all that Quote
Des Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 Its not hard to convert to manual, Can be done in 1 day. Quote
decoop Posted February 13, 2007 Author Report Posted February 13, 2007 (edited) Doin it auto for something different. i'll put a 4agte in it later down the track. Thanks for the info. Edited February 13, 2007 by decoop Quote
anastasios Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 something different? thats weird just go manual Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I'm not sure what Auto they use (trimatic?) but if you can the stall modified and a shift kit done it would be pretty good, it wouldnt be such a slug off the line then. Let us all know what you end up doing... Quote
wagon Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 thay are trimatics if you get the right stall it mite take a few shots it shouldn't be a slug Quote
Des Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 Wasnt the trimatic behind the K motor and not the 4a ? Quote
wagon Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 well i pulled my one out of a ae71 4a and the tag says borg warner on it which is a trimatic Quote
decoop Posted February 16, 2007 Author Report Posted February 16, 2007 something different? thats weird just go manual Thats why i'm doin an auto coz everyone goes manual. so if there a trimatic they will have no probs handling the power of a 4agte. or i might save my money and just put a 1uzfe in it :jamie: i.m a big fan of the sleeper look so it will be sly no matter what i put in it. LINDSAY Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 have you still got your KE20 ? Quote
wagon Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 so if there a trimatic they will have no probs handling the power of a 4agte. depends how much power u have i got 200 atw i don't think that will hold Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 If they are a trimatic (I'm still not sure...) then std they will fall appart if you throw turbo grunt at them! If they are basically the same box as the Holden ones then the can be modded to handle alot of grunt. They run trimatics behind vl turbo engines, they just have to be made "bulletproof" as such. If your running a stocker it wouldnt be such an issue. Remember, they call them a traumatic for a reason... otherwise goodluck! Quote
andro0o Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 arent autos 3 speed thats so random.... Quote
