jamesrolla Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 i am wondering if the seats from a ke55 are a direct bolt in to a ke70? also wondering if the diff from a ke55 will fit a leaf rear suspension ke70 wagon??? or even if the centre will change over and are the rear leaf pack interchangable with the ke70 wagon? and the last thing is front struts from a ta22 that ahve been in the ke55, will they fit a ke70?? james Quote
doityourself Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 TA22 strut should fit if you use the strut tops from the KE70, and change over the steering arm too. Quote
Raven Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 55's ran a Borg warner diff. 70's ran a Borg warner diff. Centre will change, not sure on diff's though. You'd have ot measure the overall length and the position of the mounts for the leaves. Quote
jamesrolla Posted February 7, 2007 Author Report Posted February 7, 2007 cool, anyone know about the seats?? are ke70 strut tops the same as ke55?? Quote
JiP Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 If you have the time, go to a wrecker that has both cars and test it out. Quote
jamesrolla Posted February 7, 2007 Author Report Posted February 7, 2007 its just getting to the wreckers and finding a decent one in tasmania, as they are all closing down randomly, i will try some stuff this weekend Quote
JiP Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 The seats look pretty much the same between the KE55 Square Headlight model and the KE70. So even if the seats don't swap right over, i'm sure you'd be able to still use your original rails and the KE70 seats. Quote
jamesrolla Posted February 10, 2007 Author Report Posted February 10, 2007 ok, i did some mesuring today of the ke70 and the ke38 diff will fit straight into a ke70 wagon or panel van with leaf springs, will check the seats some time next week james Quote
teza40 Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 hi, just a note on the seat dilemma... ok i just purchased a ke38 wagon which had later model square style rolla seats possibly ke70-ae71 not real sure.i now have them in my 1979 ke38 panel van and they were a straight swap, tho i did have to use the inertia reel seat belts with wire rod seat belt stalks. as the original stalk is bolted to the side of the seat in 79 ke 38 van (not sure if this is the normal tho..)so the seats fitted nice and the floor under the original vinyl mat had the threaded hole to take the seat belt stalks....so easy and sooo comfortable to drive now.. good luck teza40 Quote
BradW Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 i am wondering if the seats from a ke55 are a direct bolt in to a ke70? james I had a set of KE70 seats in a KE55. They bolted straight in with no mods so it would be a safe bet that KE55 seats would bolt into a KE70. Quote
anastasios Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 so your saying that a ke70 wagon diff will fit into a ke55 and earlier corolla? oh and i don't think ke70 strut tops will work, ae71 ones don't fit Quote
JiP Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Does anyone know if the KE55 and the KE70 are the same size?? Cause to me it seems that the only thing that changed through the models are cosmetic like the outer shell. The doors are the same, i assume that the seats are the same, same engine (although the bay has been re-aranged). Does anyone agree?? Quote
doityourself Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 are ke70 strut tops the same as ke55?? Sorry to dissapoint you but the strut tops in the KE30/50/55 are not the same as KE70/AE71/TE72/AE86 Quote
