91deo Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 hey, my girl friends got a 1971 ke 20 with a 1.6 donk in it at the moment but its getin a bit old and gut less so we thought to replace it with a 4age if any ones done this can you pls tell me if yu had any problems, what diff and gear box and is it worth while doing? also if anyones done a conversion other then the 4age could you tell me bout it. she wants it to be n/a . thanks Quote
Des Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 If your going 4age you will want T-50 gearbox which bolt straight up to the 4age but MIGHT need to cut the shifter hole to fit it right and modify your gearbox cross member. Its worth doing if you can do most of the hard parts to save money. Quote
Jono Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 (edited) yep, the shifter hole needs to be cut. gearbox crossmember moved and redrilled. watch the sump hitting the swaybar when you make your mounts. you need a hydraulic clutch setup. you need bigger brakes all round. you need a tailshaft made up to fit t50 to whatever diff you run. get a brake booster. what 1.6 is in there now? is it worthwhile doing? it goes good but not insane, if i did mine again i would definately look at finding a 4agze and putting a turbo on it.
