nickyboy Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 (edited) Hey all, well i have succeeded in getting my own car and as i had strongly hoped it was a KE70 I picked it up for 1300 and the body is clean as, with a tiny dot of rust which you can't see The interior is very clan though the drivers seat is torn up pretty bad :) its running on the stock 1.3 - 5 speed so far i've - painted the outline on the CS badge so it stands out again (chrome) - painted the COROLLA badge in the interior (on the passenger side) - CSX factory Mags - Red Carpet in boot (lol) - XXX badging on the grill future plans which will be soon - lowering the car (its way to high lol) - possible new engine at some point (more power) - thinking about a rear wing, something subtle - chrome bumpers for it, any suggestions, which ones fit well!?! nickyboy Posted January 24, 2007 Author Report Posted January 24, 2007 nah was actually off some guy who was like 23 around that... but his parents sold it while he was away (with his permission), guess he wasn't a mad car guy bout 230ks on the clock and the radiators about to shit itself, replacement i need, and the rear license plate lights not working (annoying thing to fix, think wires are screwed) yeh i might do some small work to the engine before i actually drop a new one in, i plan to run this one the ground Quote
Des Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Very clean, Nice find. You can find a AE71 spirit rear spoiler they look pimp. T-18 bumpers fit but its alot of work, Or you can import some original chrome bumpers for NZ, Europe and Japan i think. Make sure you lower it the legal way. :) Quote
nickyboy Posted January 24, 2007 Author Report Posted January 24, 2007 yeah i'll prob get some custom springs for it, do it correctly! and with the spoiler i want something kinda boxy if ya get what i mean, something that will fit/work with the body :) Quote
chrisandliz[RL] Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 have you seen an ae71 spirt's fin if you haven't they look nice, "i like" Quote
7shades Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Thats nice dude.... Hey if you take the rear bumper of and flog the metal support behind it you should be able to get it to sit straight again... have you thought about maybe a VK SS rear spoiler? You'd have to do a quick cut'n'shut to get it the right width but it would suit the car quite well.... Quote
nickyboy Posted January 24, 2007 Author Report Posted January 24, 2007 (edited) yeh i had a look at a few spirit wings and i like them, so I'm going to look for one. as for the VK SS no sure if i wanna do a chop job, Hey if you take the rear bumper of and flog the metal support behind it you should be able to get it to sit straight again... what bout the front? Edited January 24, 2007 by nickyboy Quote
7shades Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Yeah the front should be the same.... I've found that when when they get driven into a pole or something similarly immovable, the plastic pops out again but the metal bit behind it gets deformed and pushes the edges up or down... a judicious flogging fixes that up, but quite often the small plastic tangs that attach the bumper to the metal support have been broken off and its hard to get it sitting flat again. A heat gun and some sikaflex will be your best friends :) Quote
nickyboy Posted January 26, 2007 Author Report Posted January 26, 2007 maybe i'm way off, but i have read before (i think i did) that a KE55 bumpers will fit... is this true Quote
anastasios Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 they can but its a bit of a job to make custom mounts to the car, just chop your springs and get 15s for the front Quote
nickyboy Posted January 27, 2007 Author Report Posted January 27, 2007 went to u-pull it today to scrounge up sum parts i.e. the license plate light as it did not work (and the bulb was fine) f@$k all corollas there had been hacked apart, barely anything decent to take! i need a radiator and they are all destroyed :D but i got the light which was good because i was being followed by a cop the other night (i also had 4 people in the back, the cop also did not notice and drove past us) i put the most hideous red carpet down in the boot, because the original stuff was f@$ked... (pics soon) so next thing i am doing is looking for some wheels/rims... i really want to get these.... Toyota supra ones but i also saw some ones that i believe came off a corona or maybe a celica (old of course) and i can't find a pic of them unfortunately, they are kinda boxey and come to a point in the middle and the name toyota in the middle of them, i want to know whats a your opinion on them... will they look good on my rolla? Quote
7shades Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 They sound like RA60/ST141 Corona or Tarago factory alloys... They'll look ok, if your idea of style is big hair and ripped denim, and you enjoy dressing up in red leather and wearing one white glove covered in rhinestones.... ie: 1985... There's better wheels around IMO.... keep a-hunting :D Quote
nickyboy Posted January 27, 2007 Author Report Posted January 27, 2007 lol hell no to dressing like that :y: any suggestions? :D Quote
7shades Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 well I've always found that keeping a contemporary style without subscribing to the current trends in fashion can be difficult... I mean walking into any "cool" clothes store and buying anything "off the rack" will make you look good, but so will everyone else who did the same thing. The trick, (I think) is to stick to clothes that fit well and are well made, and dress for comfort as your first priority. Staying with the classic "timeless" ensembles (can't go wrong with jeans and a t-shirt) will ensure you still look good, but not selling out and following the trends like everyone else. Oh... you mean wheels... nah got no idea. I like shiny ones. :D Quote
