hey guys, well i got some superlow ke30 king springs and monroe GT gas shocks about 6 months ago,

Took the whole strut out and took it into a suspension place to get them all installed, put back in car and it was fine, now 6 months later on the front gas cartridges are completely shot.. like the car bottems out everywhere and it just bounces all over the road, also took the car into bob jane and he said the struts are f@$ked..

I'm ringing up monroe soon and sorting this out, but what i wanted to know was what have caused them to go like this so soon?, i thought struts lasted longer then this, and btw this car is just a daily driver not a rally car or something lol.. so anyone got any suggestions?,

Cheers, Trent-KE30..

Are they the standard size strut or did you get low struts as i can't make it out from superlow ke30 king springs and monroe GT gas shocks, Anyways if you only got standard struts there is a possibility that you have bottomed out the strut and bent the cartridge, This does happen alot and will reduce strut life, Otherwise i couldnt tell ya.

Thanks Trev, nah they are just standard struts.. should i have got lowered ones?

Cheers for that mate,

Trent

Yeah it would of been better to get them as you get a better feeling ride as you don't have half compressed shocks, Just see about gettin some superlow struts.

Okay, I took the car to a suspension place today, and he said that the struts are f@$ked,

How did everybody else lower the front of there KE30 and not get f@$ked shocks?

Cheers Trent

ok well heres the thing when u lower the springs u need to replace the shocks with short stroke shocks to keep the springs captive, the problem is that I'm unsure of shocks that would fit into your stock struts and also be short stroke, for example I'm putting shortened 86 coilovers into my 55 with sw20 shocks that factory are short stroke and fit into the 86 strut,( which has been built for tokico shocks) so it depends if you can be bothered doing alot of research to find a size of shock that will fit and also be short stroke other wise replace the struts with something that has more potential, eg 86 or corona or celica

don't go so low with the springs - no probs :)

Seriously, I ran GT Monero strut inserts for years in my KE35 without any hassles with 1 1/2 coils cut off the stock springs. Had to zip tie the springs in place to stop them falling out.

Bump stops are mainly there to stop the chassis hittin the suspension, My old vk wagon was on the bump stops but still managed to fuk all the struts/shocks.

Erm..... On the front struts they're there to stop the shock from bottoming out. Not Chassis vs suspension.

Yes but i said mainly, Most cars can fully compress without the touching the bumpstops in the car (i even pulled my rear stops out 1 day and it went lower), i don't wanna turn this into a fighting session, just giving "some" advice, However someone wants to use it its up to them.
