78_7kRolla Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 nah go with the 7k. cheaper and straight forward. Quote
doityourself Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 I'll help you out matey, Call Oriental 4WD and Commercial, they are on Meyer Rd in Lonsdale SA, before the RSPCA. There is two 7K motors there, I have inspected the both of them personally. One is a 7K-c motor with a twin plane exhaust manifold. The other is a 7K-E. For memory the prices are $1000 for the 7k-c, and $1300 for the 7k-e. Speak to Paul, tell him you know Dale (which is me) from the rolla club, he'll sort things out for you. Kind regards Dale Jeffree. Quote
Jono Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 7k might be easier but its easier to find replacement 4age bits and pieces. Quote
doityourself Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 actually parts for the 7k are easy as they are in domestic commercial, a few car parts places can get part for them here is SA. Quote

doityourself Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 I am going there some stage this week, and am going to speak about getting one. So hopefully there will be a KE30 7K terrorising the hills soon! Quote
Des Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Might i ask why you want to go 7k power ? Quote
doityourself Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 I am not a rev head anymore and the fact is the 7K has a fair bit or torque compared to any other K motor. Besides a few little things these go in pretty simple. Quote

Besides a few little things these go in pretty simple. yeah, exactly the point. I'm only a learner so i can't go about thrashing my car. But since we installed the 7k it has been easier to drive and basicaly pulls in any gear. gl. Quote
rollin_stock Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 One of those engines at lonsdale is a 2004 model if i remember right, those prices are damn sight cheaper than what i was quoted, although I'm talking over a year ago now, suppose they have just sat there since. I was going to get one instead of rebuilding my 5K. Quote

Besides a few little things these go in pretty simple. A 5K has HEAPS more torque than a 4K, and it bolts straight in with no hassles, and is much cheaper than a 7K, So why go 7K and not 5K if you don't want to "hoon" Quote
doityourself Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 I never said I didn't like making GRUNT, its either a lazy 7K that should theorectically run trouble free for decades, or a short lived high 10,000RPM lumpy 3K. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Or a lazy 5K that will go as hard as ur high revving short lived 3K for next to f@$k all, that will last decades also, with much less work and cost than a 7K Quote
