thanks guys, been fiddling out in the shed to see whats what with the switch and found that the liight is completely seperate from the switch its self so that figures out two of the terminals

but i found that the main switch is actully an always on until puched and its off, so I'm thinking that there is another section of the switch that is missing.

i think this may be the case as there would be another bit to send the power to the starter and the bit ive got is to cut the power to all the acceserys, like an normal key does

the whole switch body cilips together so someone might have f@$ked with it, ill go into work tomorrow and see if it was a return!!

Jip,

Id imagine it is wired into the key some where down the line so key in push button but having key cut off to it also defeats its purpose..lol

So defiantly a ricer part not for mm daily use but if you ask me it might be wired so power for light and other two terminals to to a relay that is wired to starter to start it. So push button flicks the relay and off goes the starter so mmm interesting as that switch is to small to handle the amps of a atarter motor.

Just read your reply you got in before me.

If the switch is always on this could hold a relay off then when pushed relay activates flows power so if you ask me wire the switch to a BIG relay and into starter motor :hmm:

My 36 had a broken ignition barrel and stuff, so I put in a button and 2 switches. It was a fair bit of mucking around, but it works ok now... I think the alarm system had something to do with the difficulties with the switch and button install.

yeah ive got the button working now, its pretty cool, but there is somrthing wrong with the car.

basically, when you turn the key, or press the button now :hmm: , it just goes click, no turning over, just a click

its got a good/chargered battery, brand new starter moter as it was playing up for a while so i replaced it, it also g=has good power at the starter

i've also add a relay to the starter as a friend that is an auto elec said that that may fix it, it didn't. very un relible bloke, tryed to get him around but still hasn't made it here

thats why i changed to the button, i was told that the old key thing may have been causing the prob, but no.

well at least you have a cool/rice star button..

even tho its a new starter it may be possible that its faulty.. give it a tap with the ol hammer like you would a farked one..

edit: if you have good power at the starter and its got a good earth then it must be faulty..? nothing else it could be
