Shaun Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 (edited) So yeah, how does it come off? Ive taken out the middle nut, what else is there that makes this thing come off? KE70 to btw. Edited December 29, 2006 by Shaun Quote
turbo_rolla Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 From memory, the nut should be it.........now ya just gotta put a whole lot of muscle into it and yank & riggle the shit out of it until it comes off. Just be careful not to smack yourself in the chops :y: Quote
Jono Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 (edited) lol, yeah loosen the nut but keep it on the thread, this way you won't nail yourself with the wheel when it comes loose. i GENTLY used a rubber mallet to persuade mine to come off but be careful, you don't want to wreck your collapsing steering column. Shaun Posted December 29, 2006 Author Report Posted December 29, 2006 Thanks guys, i reckon i would of smacked myself knowing me, might get my pinch bar out and lever it off. Quote
Raven Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Wriggle from side to side whille pulling the wheel towards you! :y: Quote
Robert Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 if its really tight use a puller. Quote
styler Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 (edited) use a steering wheel puller kit or 2 jaw puller, both $15 to $20 ea at trade tools. i found the 2 jaw puller works well on boss kits. it takes under 5 seconds on the tightest of steering wheels and wont damage the wheel. sometimes you can get it off using a mallet, muscle or wiggle it if its not on too tight but its a fair bit of sweat and time and can damage the wheel if it is stuck. the wheel is fitted on using tapered spline and the nut forces it to jam on there when done up so it wont come off, thats why they are difficult to remove. irokin Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Wriggle from side to side whille pulling the wheel towards you! :y: I agree. Also helps sometimes if you get it on the steering lock and do a few gentle ones that way too. DON'T try and lever it off, you're gonna damage something for sure. Quote

meadan Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 i did this today. i just left the nut on a little bit and wriggled the wheel from side to side while pulling it out. it came off in about 30 seconds so i guess I'm lucky. Quote
love ke70 Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 get angry. hit with hammer while pulling with other hand. if angry enough, wheel will come off Quote
Nitephyre Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 wheel puller kit is your friend since they're so cheap.. Quote
Redwarf Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 With the nut half off, thump the wheel on either side quickly with your fists like a two year old having a tantrum (I can even lend you the two year old, complete with tantrums.) You're not thumping the back of the wheel here, but the front. This loosens the wheel and should come straight off. Never failed for me Quote
Des Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 ^^^^Yep allways used Redwalfs method and has never failed me.^^^^ Quote
