Jason KE30 Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 bit off topic sorry guys but, where did you get your adaptors for your commodore radiator hoses? some exhaust joint or something? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted January 27, 2009 Author Report Posted January 27, 2009 Always good to hear from you Darren :D , I'll get some more pics up soon and hopefully you'll be able to tell me more. Â All I really know for now is thats its a "t28", its ball bearing, and has a steel wheel!! :) Seller was told it was the stock turbo on an S15 he bought,...... but I already know they had Garrett turbos! Â Guys the old HKS kits where a carby, non intercooled setup with a pretty small turbo and not the greatest flowing cast manifold. Don't get me wrong they're good (if you can get your hands on one), but would be a pretty big downgrade for me at this stage. Next time I see a pic of a kit (they pop up on cars on trademe sometimes) I'll chuck a pic up in the FAQ, just like I'm about to with a K50 that fits A series! Â Bottom radiator hose is stock K, top one is cut with some old exhasut with a cap brazed on (was like $20 at a rad shop). Was one of those temporary things that I haven't got around to fixing yet. Should be all alloy soon. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 hmm... so how did you fit the k radiator hose over the nozzle of the commodore radiator?? because the commodore radiator nozzle thingie is a fair bit larger or at least mine is anyway :D Quote
Taz_Rx Posted January 27, 2009 Author Report Posted January 27, 2009 Top one slipped on pretty easy. Bottom one however wasn't that easy, but went on. Just need to hold your tongue the right way. :D Â You could use a little bit of grease to help it slip on. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 alrighty then i'll give it a crack if not i'm just gonna head down to some sort of scrap yard and get some tubing of some sort for an adaptor Quote

(PE), they use IHI ball bearing turbos and cast there own t25/28 turbo housings, to do direct bolt on turbos for SR's, they where initially big in the united states but have been selling alot in japan, they sell a lot of direct replacement EJ20 turbos aswell.  Actually here you go just did a search ........ http://www.powerenterpriseusa.net/products...s13/13_bolt.htm  If it is, i am right on the money, they flow the same as my HKS 2530, or the same as a garret 2860RS bloody good turbo, but stick a .48 housing on it, and it would be insane! cheers darren Quote
Taz_Rx Posted January 28, 2009 Author Report Posted January 28, 2009 Liking what I'm hearing Darren! and USD$1660RRP!!!!!....... Do you think I did alright then for $365! :D Quote

They are $2400 shipped atm the moment brand new They have a inconel exhaust wheel for quick spool and make 230-240rwkw on sr20's on 19-20psi cheers darren   specs:  http://www.powerenterpriseusa.net/products..._spec/index.htm Edited January 28, 2009 by untubbed_20 Quote

Taz_Rx Posted January 28, 2009 Author Report Posted January 28, 2009 haha probably not too far away. :jamie: Â So is my T25G .48 housing going to fit this you reckon? Miss that thing so much! Quote

I would have thought there would have been enough meet in the housing to machine it out.  I am doing it to mine aswell.  ke10 is going up mates workshop on 14th feb so i can do sump and engine mounts so some progress should be made in the next 3-4 months, reckon i am going to go with another j-pipe, just on passenger side, i only want 140rwkw, but shitloads of torque. cheers darren Edited January 29, 2009 by untubbed_20 Quote
Taz_Rx Posted April 28, 2009 Author Report Posted April 28, 2009 Quick update: Â Given up on ebay turbo....... very pissed off. $400 out of pocket. Yell out if anybody knows some heavys in Albury. :P Â Think I also need a new boost controller as I've been having some "issues". Great having a data logger. Was worried about spiking 17.8psi on the recent tassie rolla cruise (with ceramic wheel turbo). Had a quick look on my way back from Prologue yesterday and boost was maxing out at 22.1psi!!!! :P Talk about mumbo though!!! :) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted June 30, 2009 Author Report Posted June 30, 2009 Long time, no update..... Â Boost controller seems to got over its hissy fit, back to maxing around 14-15psi.... where it should be. Â Drove her to Hobart on the weekend. Ran faultlessly as usual. Probably used a bit more fuel than I would have liked but oh well its not supposed to be an economical cruiser. The .48 has a lot to do with this though - 110-120kmh is right on 0 vacuum/boost and the slightest hill will get you up to 5 psi. When I had the T28 with a .64 it was doing the same 110-120kmh but with 5-10 InHg of vacuum. My T25G is also a bit smokey and not as responsive as it used to be so I'm keeping an eye out for other turbos. Might just bite the bullet when I get my tax return and get a brand new GT2554R, 2560R, GT2860R etc.... still got decide obviously and depend how much I get on my tax as well. Â Also finally got my gilmer drive crank pulley fixed. I've had some leaking front main seal issues and a dodgy seal wore a 0.5mm groove into the alloy pulley which was enough to make it leak un-controllably. So the pulley has now been machined down to have a stainless steel sleeve slipped over it, which will now make contact with the seal..... Â Â Think before I put the gilmer stuff back on I might rebuild and polish an alterator and then re-assemble with the gilmer pulley. Â That's it for now. :) Quote
