SLO-030 Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Hey mate where did you get the rims? I desperately want a set. Cheers Dale Yeah, what he said. Also do theyh bolt up to the KE1X - KE2X 4X110pcd? Quote
SLO-030 Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 has anybody tried swapping and early model KE25 steel grille for a later model plastic one? I swapped mine over and just letting people kno that the mounts on the body don't match up with the mounts on the grille as theyre out by about an inch each side. atm mine just using the center support and the two metal tabs from the lower apron. will make and fit new mounts hopefully tomorrow. also does anybody have problems with the bonnet hitting the top of the later model grille? have been told that the early model metal grilles are fairly uncommon, can someone verify this? so at the moment the grille isnt for sale if you were gonna ask. Jono Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 the early bonnets don't look good with the late grill, it all doesn't match up. as for the saab rims, they are available in 4 x 108 which will just fit on the 4 x 110 but is a bit dodgy. mine are earlier saab rims which are identical but are 4 x 114.3. both of these are either +35 or +40 so you need spacers. i use mine coz i have a wider diff (ke55) in the ke20 and don't want to run flares. IMHO flares only look good on ke25's, not ke20's. Quote

If you do a bit of surgery to make them fit, you'll notice that the late model grills tend to stick out more forward than the early ones. For infact, the CENTRE part of the bonnet on the late model is longer than the early ones. They have a "shark nose" like the LJ toranas. The point. I tried all these things with my early/late KE20's and KE25's, when trying to source different bits and pieces. Quote
PMP020 Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 i have a set of those early saab chasers. curently have two on the rear of the RBKE. took me so long to find, it wasnt funny. they look tops tho. will be upgrading to ford fiesta 15" steelies to better suit my commo rear end in the RBKE. cheers, scott Quote
SLO-030 Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) i got the late model grill on the rolla tonight all i had to do is make up new mounts as the early grille mounts were about an inch out. the only thing is that the bonnet just touches the center of the later grill. I think it looks aiight now and i put the headlight surrounds from the early grill aswell and as the later grill sits further out it removesthe bugeye look that the early grill and surounds have. all up I'm happy in the swap, not a straigh over swap but it will fit. might be able to get a pic of the front. are the early grills uncommon??
