7shades Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Hey peeps Picked up some really cool wheels with a very unfortunate offset and I'm having clearance problems. I've machined up some spacers with the proper spigot diameters so I won't be putting extra stress on the studs but I'd prefer to have a bit more thread to play with.... All toyota studs are the same in every regard bar length so I'm wondering if one has experience or info on some longer ones. Cheers Quote
Des Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 I needed longer studs for my mazda for the rims i bought for it and i just took a few of the original studs to auto 1 and they gave me ones with the same thread and width but longer and they worked a treat.... Quote
Trev Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 It will probably be easier to track down some wheel nuts with a longer depth rather than going through the hassel of changing the studs. Quote
Dan Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Won't work. Get longer studs. I was speaking to Geoff about this a while back on MSN, he ran longer studs and cost him $14 per corner. He never had an issue with it, apparently Quote
7shades Posted November 27, 2006 Author Report Posted November 27, 2006 yeah... using barrel nuts would mean I'd have to drill out the lug holes on the wheels... and me and 'ol mr. ryobi aren't that accurate. Looks like a trip to toyota to rifle through the parts bins. I was trying to avoid that scenario, I used work in spare parts and the interpereters get really flustered and turn funny colours when you confront them with something they can't instantly look up on disc or microfiche :jamie: Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 I used camary ones in mine, they were longer, not sure by how much...... Quote
love ke70 Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...l=brake+upgrade from that thread: if you intend on using longer wheel studs now's the time to remove the old ones – early model Hilux 4wd and drum brake Land Cruiser studs are about 8mm longer and fit with a small adjustment Quote
7shades Posted November 27, 2006 Author Report Posted November 27, 2006 Frikkin perfect dude... That didn't come up when I searched... wikkid. Quote
love ke70 Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 :jamie: read the thread he had to mod his but i think it might just be because of the setup he was using Quote
7shades Posted November 27, 2006 Author Report Posted November 27, 2006 duh... I'm such a retard. I even posted in that thread. In fact it convinced me to turn up some spigot rings.... Quote
