tojo2 Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Rear brakes probably needs adjusting as has been mentioned. Easy quick check method: pull upp handbrake until it almost starts braking. Now try brake pedal while driving. If it has improved , you have found your fault. :jamie: Quote
tas_ae71 Posted November 24, 2006 Author Report Posted November 24, 2006 ok cool, will try that too. arnt drums serpost to be self ajusting? Quote
tas_ae71 Posted November 24, 2006 Author Report Posted November 24, 2006 just went out and had it running with the hand brake reafed on as far as i could pull the barstard, i think it may of been slighly better. this still wouldnt explain when i shut it off they go good again.... Quote
tojo2 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Drum brakes are supposed to be selfadjusting yes but like everything else , they need servicing -cleaning . One of the great joys of owning an old car. :jamie: If your brake pedal did not become lower when you started the car , then your booster would not be working. Try this on any car: press the brake pedal while starting the car. You will feel the pedal going inn as the engine starts. Quote
tas_ae71 Posted November 25, 2006 Author Report Posted November 25, 2006 tryed that one, yes it did go in a little. funnaly enough they feel a bit better than the other week.. they felt like they may actually might slow me down a little if i used them.. another joy of owning an old car, things that change each time you drive it. it aint as old as my first car, that was made in 1973. didnt have a spot of troble with that. they still don't feel 100% like they where before, will check the rears the sarvo.. hopefully thats all it is :jamie: Quote
