dallaske55 Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 And here we go, My first car was a KE55 coupe and I've alway's like the shape of them. It took me about a year to find a decent one for a resonable price and here she is the body is near perfect, the young lady i bought it off of had a small accident damaging the left fender. The steering is a bit sloppy not too sure if the crash caused it, or old age. Anyway, nearly a year later, the door cards are done. the front below, the back are straight black The car is up and I'm reconditioning the steering and suspension. By the end of christmas the front will be finished. All New ball jounts, rubbers, bearings and lowered springs Then it will be onto either the diff and rear suspension, or Boot lining and interior. Depends what I feel like . Quote
Des Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Man those door pods look sweet as, Do you have any engine plans ? Quote
dallaske55 Posted November 20, 2006 Author Report Posted November 20, 2006 Not as yet, Still tossing up whether to keep and work the 4K already in the old girl, or, upgrade to a newer engine. Your thoughts?? Quote
Des Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 What do you want out of the car ? Do you want it to kill 6 cylinders or just cruise around with a little bit of power ? If it was mine i would like to put a 3SGTE in it to get some real power happening or make a fully worked 5K to keep it as original as possible but still have some balls. Cheers Des. :) Quote
dallaske55 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 Well it's been a bloody long time but back again. A bit of an update, I've added some fibreglass, a Lip, Bobtail Wing and Flares. here's the process. The Lip and Bobtail was from an RA Celica. The Lip was the easiest to add, simple cut to shape and fit The wing on the otherhand took a while. I had to cut it to pieces and re-built it so the angles would match the boot The biggest problem was how to fabricate the ends. after shaping the front and back I taped down some packing wrap on the outside and glassed the inside. the ends turned out perfect after a bit of bog I had to extend the back so i used a similar approach. I taped packing wrap to the back of the boot, fitted the wing and glassed over it. The wing now is shaped to the the boot And that is that, both are sanded and ready for priming, hopefully next week Quote
JiP Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 WoW. Hey would you be willing to maybe have that rear one molded and reproduced?? Cause I'd like that on my Hardtop. The front looks cool too. :P Quote
Tume Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 That's the type of lip I want done on my sedan once I get around to that area. Looking Good. What did you use to make it in the first place? Quote
JiP Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I'd wanna see what that lip looks like with a bumper attached. Quote
dallaske55 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 As for the Flares, they are from a KE2x and they have taken the better part of 4 months to get to a stage where i can take molds. The process is just labour intensive. First i had to cut and open the arch to fit the larger guards. Glassed it all up and bogged the cuts The ends had to be lengthened, for this i used some urethane foam cut to shape the guard and flare, epoxied in, bogged and shaped. A fair bit of time taken up fiddling around. All primed just have to sand and take some molds (hopefully next week) off of them to a make thicker, stronger set. See you all later Quote
