Des Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 They are still in VT commodores here and some are still in series 1 AU falcons. Quote
ancullen Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 That's a pretty good rule. And I'm sure there'd be similar rules for police vehicles in other states. Although I did hear a rumour (from a cop) that one state (Vic or NSW) has/had a HQ/WB Holden ute with all the running gear from a modern SS ute in it. They'd park it on the side of the road with bales of hay and a speed gun mounted in the back, and as soon as anyone went past at speed, they'd start up and chase them down. Don't know how true this was though, as it sounds a bit of a tall tale. Quote
JiP Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Isn't what the cops doing considered entrapment? I suppose that they're not forcing anyone to do anything wrong, but breaking the law to catch other offenders seems a bit off. My brother in law was caught yesterday. He was on his motor bike when a black ss ute cut accross 3 lanes of highway and started chasing him accross local roads. He thought he was being targeted for road rage so he split. He ran though an amber light and the ute went through the red withought a siron or lights. They finnally signalled him further down the road while he was stopped at traffic lights. Its unfair the tactics that they use to catch people out. He was issued with a $700 fine and 8 points with a suspended license for 6 months. Quote

On my way home on Saturday night from an undisclosed location i was doin 85 in a 80 zone and noticed a newish looking car coming a bit quick behind me, So i slowed down and it turned out to be a D car, He followed me over 120km to my mates house and when we turned in to his street the coper turned around and pissed off. He wasted his time and petrol to just look at my rear end for 50 mins. Quote
Valandor Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 (edited) ive seen the coppers going the other end of the scale as well and getting beaten up heaps of crap. leaving them on the side of the free way in melbourne and having a copper with a laser gun inside of what looks like a broken down abandonded car on the side of the road. "i think you are underestimating their sneakyness." Edited November 13, 2006 by Valandor Quote
