scooter Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Hi guys, I joined the forum in the hope someone may be able to answer a few questions. I don't have a Corolla, I have a 1983 Lite ace. My questions are. Is there a 5 speed available that is a column shift? Will a diff from a Corolla or another Toyota fit the liteace, something that is more conducive to highway driving? Thanks in advance Scooter. Quote
philba Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Is there a 5 speed available that is a column shift? Try having a look at where and how all the linkage's mate up to the box. It's quite possible that any 5 speed that came with that series engine (is it a 'k' engine?) will fit. I know that with kingswood's, you could change it from 3 speed (with column shift) to a 4 speed and keep the column shift. All the linkage's bolted on. So I'd guess just have a look at the box, what sorta engine you have, etc. Hope this helps. Sorry I can't help you with your diff question Quote

irokin Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 In the future can you PLEASE put something more than "help" in your topic. You have been warned. Quote
thomo Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 factory option, hit the wreckers, has to be a van and has to be a k series, you may need shifter to suit i don't think the 4 speed shifter will work Quote
Jonny Rochester Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 First you have to tell us what model car you have. Look on your ID plate and tell us all the numbers. Maybe your van is a KY30 or something like that? Don't know. Then find the Transmission code. Maybe W40, or something. So next post, give us something like this: Model: KY30 Trans: W41 Diff: E382 Only then can we help, because we don't know vans that well. Quote
Wood§tok Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 arent hiluxes and hiaces almost identicle underneath? if so a hilux dif would be my choice. no idea about the column shift. cheers. Quote
VHR32 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 10/79-8/85 20 series Liteace's have an E series diff. E252 = 4.556 E362 = 4.778 E152 = 5.125 E282 = 4.3 Try a YM21 which have the 4.3 diff. MX3# cressidas have a 3.9 diff centre which will fit and be nice and tall on the highway!! Quote
