Lukey Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 I was thinking the other night and i was thinking of a way to get more air to the carbie and i thought of getting a crome pipe and puting it next to the radiator though the grill with mesh on it so no rocks get in and then feeding it to the carbie and mounting it on the carbie inlet thingo any way do your think this would do any thing at all to help the car or would it be a wast of time Thanks Heaps Luke Quote
love ke70 Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 difference at the speeds we travel would be rather negligible i think.... Quote
Lukey Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Posted October 19, 2006 yes but wouldnt it like forse the air into it i recon it would work ok :D i think Quote
love ke70 Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 it makes f@$k all difference :D Quote
Des Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) yes but wouldnt it like forse the air into it i recon it would work ok :D i think The amount of air going into the pipe wouldnt give enough pressure to make much difference. ;) But the more idea's people have the better, You might stumble across something really usefull. Redwarf Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 yes but wouldnt it like forse the air into it i recon it would work ok :D i think Erm, no. People make cold air induction for them, but you still have to run it through an air cleaner if you want the engine to last longer than three months. I doubt whether you could get a constant radius to the carbie anyway, I don't think you have the height. And at the end of the day, it's a K motor, the improvement would be negligable. Quote
Lukey Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) thanks for all the imput :D Edited October 19, 2006 by Lukey Quote
love ke70 Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 put a boost/vac gauge on and do the mod bet you see no difference on the gauge :D go on bet me, I'm hardup for cash Quote
Lukey Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Posted October 19, 2006 but couldnt u put a pod on the end and woulnt that filter all they shit :D Quote
Lukey Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Posted October 19, 2006 o well it was a good idear untill every one killed o well i don't think I'm gonna try it now Quote
Robert Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Ive got a cold air setup on my 4k, made out of various bits of intake piping from the wreckers. From through the apron on the front r/h side up and over to an open sided air filter, it does fuk all. Quote
Des Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 o well it was a good idear untill every one killed o well i don't think I'm gonna try it now don't let us kill your ideas, If you think it works set it up and have a crack at making it work. :D Quote
towe001 Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Have a google for things like "air ram", "ram air". From memory old chev's, ponitac's, etc used them to some success on the race track. Quote
Jordan Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 lets not forget also that a cold air intake on a stock K series motor is rather a pointless exercise. Since the intake manifold is bolted to the exhaust manifold. for a dogy air ram effect into the carbi, you could cut a hole in your bonnet, and get a 90degree bend of PVC pipe in face it forwards. I bet at anyting above 30km/h there would be pressure build up. If I get my stolen 55 coupe back I might try this. Probably will cut out though for the same reason that you need to seal up carbies for turbo use. Jordan Quote
styler Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 yeah ram air is the only effective method but it doesnt have much of an effect, unless super high speed. and cold air induction is just cold air, no pressure. lol yeah the erm intake is above to exhaust as has been said, so theres not much point in the cold air intake :) Quote
