Redwarf YOU are in BIG trubs!!! :) And no amount of sucking up by saying good luck is going to change that! But, umm, thanks (I think) :D

Information: Q1. Where is the BSCC Club Room? A1. West End (see www.bscc.asn.au for exact location) Q2. Can HSCCQ Members compete without joining BSCC? A2. HSCCQ members can compete in ANY CAMS event providing they have the appropriate level of CAMS licence for the event. You know what level is appropriate from reading the supplementary regulations (ie, the "rules" of the event). BSCC especially welcomes members from other clubs!!! Q3. How much does it cost? A3. I think it is yet to be determined. However, I would guesstimate it could be anywhere between $60 to $120. YAY that you're VERY interested!! But, you should DEFINITELY give Sheridan a call on 3846 0233 to answer questions like these (especially Q3) and so that they know to send you the information about the event when they get it sorted. You are under no obligation to enter, but at least you'll have the info on hand. datgirl

I WISH I was driving!! but to be able to drive you not only have to pass a set of criteria and qualify but you have to submit an application to be invited to drive!! You car has to be "just so" and of a special sporting marque etc. It's ridiculously competitive even just to get in. They get many entrants from Japan and other countries too. Which is why it is such an honour to be navigating. Peter Brock and Jim Richards are both in our class!!!!! :rolla: I'm lucky enough to be in a 1997 Nissan Skyline R33 gtr v-spec N1 sponsored by help.org.au (click on the "racing team" button). John Atherton is my driver and I've only met him once but a really REALLY nice guy who happens to have lots of $$$ but spends his time working on the (non-profit) help.org.au concept. I'm just really really really really lucky, I'm getting big butterflies just thinking about it again. Anyway, enough of that! I'd just better not stuff up!!! :D

Ummm, I didn't know that my name was in a newspaper?!! Quick, which one?! Yes, I am SUPER SUPER excited, and truly lucky to be navigating in Targa. It seems awfully close and I'm getting nervous!! Thanks for your support guys!!

Ssshwweeeeet!!!! Gosh Fook, that's incredible!!!! Sorry I haven't had a look around rollaclub for a while, but wow, I am SO impressed - thanks!!!! :P

I will be there spectating - just found out yesterday that there is something wrong with the diff - likely to be bearings and I need to get that fixed as a motorkhana will stuff it for sure. Anyway, enough about redatto, I will definitely be out there spectating next Sunday. There is an autocross test and tune day out there too which should be good to look at. Don't think the Holden club will get nearly as many entries as last time given the conflict of events, but maybe I'll be eating my words soon!!

Yep, I'm going down the gold coast instead but.... YAY NICK!!! for getting out there. Notice you're giving everyone else heaps - rightly so! Good to see, good to see

Ahh, yes, very true!! I have stopped wearing the full face though as you take your helmet off and on so many times during a rally... and with glasses, it is fully a pain in the nose. Plus I sweat LOTS more as a driver (uck, info you probably didn't need to know) as driving the stages = a big workout. One of the stages was 27 kms long, and it took me 28 mins to complete!! That required big effort and concentration!! I remember thinking that my eyes hurt, so I blinked, then realised that I hadn't blinked (blunked?) in a long time and that's why my eyes hurt! I think I must look like one of those WRC drivers with the BIG wide eyes and mouth hanging open + a facial expression combination of super scared and very concentrated. I have sore shoulders, back and arms this week, as opposed to only having a very sore left arm from reefing the handbrake in motorkhanas! But I love it, can't wait to go again AGAIN AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

It's the red skinned beast owned by the crunkle headed man! Actually, the photo is from the same event as the previously well-discussed famous Triple Loop incident .... (Really, the above just amounted to wanting to say "crunkle headed man" again) :) datgirl

An extract from some emails I have been sending to answer this very question: "The rally ended up going really late and I competed 4 of my 6 stages in the dark. Most of the field would have done only 2 to 3 of the 6 but I was sooo far down the back of the field, I needed my spotties early in the piece! I expected to be scared of hurtling through the forest in the pitch black darkness but it was SO much fun. I also expected to be scared silly of driving blind on a road book (no pace notes) but actually found that to be more enjoyable too. I had a few scary moments being out of control but managed to recover from them okay. The car was absolutely bullet proof and I rev'd the engine at 6 grand for most of the event and it seemed to love it." As for my times, I didn't do so fantastically - about 11th out of 15 classic cars, but am super stoked not to have come last overall. I was very VERY happy to have a solid performance over the event. As for Mr Redwarf, he had a less successful event in that he broke an axle again on the 3rd stage. Told you that Cooloola was a bad event for Redwarf Motorsport! Nothing he could have done about it. :-( But he was putting in an absolute BLINDER up until then - coming 2nd outright clubman on a couple of the stages - a true giant killing performance. Rob has a virus on his computer unfortunately, so I'm not sure when he'll be back on board to give a more thorough and accurate version of the event from the dwarf perspective... datgirl

Technically I wear an open face white helmet, but *pah*, who cares as it looks ace. I emailed that pic to the guy I bought the car off and he liked it too!! datgirl
-
Ahhh, I recognise that car!!!! WOW!!! :) datgirl

Rob is in the throes of rally prep as you might have gathered by his frantic request for gear box bits. Redwarf rally prep *may* have been slightly hindered by Mr Redwarf's infinite generosity and skill in assisting with Datgirl Racing rally preparation. Remembering that the upcoming rally this weekend has ALWAYS been bad for Redwarf Motorsport - I think 2 DNFs out of 3 starts? Anyway, THANK YOU Rob, you are far too good to me and Redatto. ... anyway, I digress. As the other representative of Redwarf Motorsport (that still manages to reside undeservingly on the windows of the dwarf), can I just say that I officially give a stamp of approval to Fook's drawing. I would also like to add that you will more than likely get 2 grunty snorts of approval from the crunkle headed beast himself. (Really, the above just amounted to wanting to say "crunkle headed beast" again) :) datgirl

Unfortunately, I only managed to see the last 3 tests, and heard of the Triple Loop Drift Extravagaza via reputation - I think we heard the story 2 kms before we got to Qld Raceway! :laff: The joys of tyre smoking aside, what made Rob's display special was the controlled agression (as described by Fook). You could only admire the seamless teamwork between crunkle-headed man and red-skinned-beast. Nay, you could not see where one ended and the other began.... the result was a display of such breath-taking precision one could only begin to ponder how many years of loving thrashings it would take to reach such a point. I also managed to scab a play in my old Datsun ... and I found that I had lost my motorkhana mojo!!! :| I suspect that Dino knew that I was sharing my affections with another (rally redatto) and perhaps rebelled. Surely there could be no other explanation?!!! :)
-
Wow, thanks guys!! I'm car 22, Rob is car 10.... I'm in a class that has 9 people and it's my first rally in that car (2nd rally driving). However Rob's the only one in his class!! So, you'll get yeah trophy from him!! Unless.... naaah, I can't say it. He'll come home with yet another trophy - it just will be sad since it will be the first rally he's competed in without me  But then again, grrrrrh, I'm DRIVING babeee!!!! :| Thanks again guys datgirl

Sure does!! Fook and I were making up our own too.... the rules were that you had to have a really romantic and soppy first line, but a really nasty second line (and it rhymes too). I forget exactly what was said but I think one of mine was along the lines of: To see you again would be pure bliss... ... only one bullet, hope I don't miss!! Which reminds me of this cool joke I heard: Q: What do you do if you find your husband staggering around the backyard? A: Reload Yes, I know, a bit sexist blah blah - I shouldn't have as it will start 101 wife bashing jokes! Like: what do you say to a woman with 2 black eyes? Nothing, she's already been told twice. Hmm, maybe V-day makes me vicious. Shouldn't though, cos I got flowers!! (bragger) :D datgirl

NEVER!!!! I shall go to my grave shouting "THERE WERE 3 DUCKS!!"
-
Oh my gad, I can't believe you're asking ME about the duck thing! You're going to be sorry you asked, but here goes.... On the 2003 interclub challenge nav run, there was a question: "How many ducks?" and it just so happened that there was one of those yellow road signs. You know the one that has on larger duck on it and 2 smaller ducks. Well, we decided to write 3 as the answer. And this was deemed to be wrong beause ducklings are NOT ducks apparently. So, this caused an uproar especially as that question cost us 2nd outright and we came 4th instead. I got on with my life until the next day run. This time it was run by BSCC and it was their end of year fun day. Well, wouldn't you know it, the SAME question was asked (a coincidence??) and we put the same answer. And once again, they deemed us wrong! :D Incidently, we checked the dictionary, a duckling is defined legally as a baby duck (should the question every be asked in a court of law). Anyhoo, it was a fun day, so did not make a big deal of it .... Then some smarty pants thought it would be very funny to include the SAME question yet again on the motor show rally on the weekend! When I was course checking, I swear to God I nearly choked. Someone is trying to really really piss me off!! because they STILL don't think a duckling is a duck. I'm getting pissed off just writing this, so I shall go away think about something else! (curses redwarf for being such a stirrer  ) You did ask!! :D datgirl

Don't actually have a copy of the nav notes since I course checked it several weeks ago and handed back the papers. Sorry! Re: the motorkhana - I won't actually be there since I had pre-organised to go horse riding with some girlfriends instead. The motorkhana panel were a little late in getting dibs in on dates!! Decided that I have been to hundreds of motorkhanas and will go to hundreds more - and that horse riding is something I've never done before. It was a tough decision since all the girls' boyfriends/husbands have decided to go to the motorkhana!! :D datgirl

The requirements will be all listed in the supplementary regulations, but they won't be available for a while yet - given that the event is some way off. However, it would not be a bad idea to give Brisbane Sporting Car Club a call (3846 0233) and ask if Sheridan could please send you a copy of the 2003 supp regs. But, as a rule, the supp regs will be similar to other road events and/or sprint events. I think it might be a little bit more than a $100 though. Not sure exactly, but maybe mid-$150s? Worth it though - get your nav to pay half!! datgirl

Yep, the Coastal Classic is run in conjunction with Rally of Queensland. I nav'd in the Coastal Classic last year in Porche (okay, so I'm showing off now!!) :Þ but it was heaps of fun. Events like these are probably the safest, or should I say least-risk, type event you could put your car into. This is because the majority of the event is held on public roads, and you MUST follow the regular road rules. The event is interspersed with little speed tests... eg, you fang around a car park in a motorkhana type event (but bigger). I have only seen one person anyone smash up their car in an event like this. And that was a WRX that hit a wall at Morgan Park. But he was going incredibly fast and was clearly being silly. To me, it boils down to: YOU are the one driving your car, therefore, YOU choose exactly how fast or slow or crazy or what risks you want to take on the day. If you feel that things are getting out of control, then it is as simple as slowing down. There is no one out there with you while you are on a track (or wherever). I bet any money that you've fanged around the streets on more than one occassion. Well, it's just like that, but you are in safe and controlled conditions (ie, you are not putting the public at risk). All you have to think about is what you're doing, not whether there are cops around or if some idiot is on the other side of the road when you come over a blind crest. :D It is a compromise - when you purchase something and put your heart and soul into it, you definitely are taking a risk by competing in an event. BUT that's the catch 22!! Why have something that is so good if you're not going to use it? Anyway, this is getting a bit long!! :D So, I'll wrap up by saying: I would highly recommend the Coastal Classic as an event to start on. If you give it a try, and you don't like it for whatever reason, what have you lost? Plus you'll meet loads of cool people, perv on other gorgeous cars - and you might even enjoy it... or LOVE it like me and hundreds of others do! To me, that's a small risk worth taking (but then again, I'm super biased) ;) datgirl

For those of you that missed out, the Motor Show Rally was very cool. Actually, it was a bloody hot day and I have the sunburn to prove it!! Anyhoo, I helped out by course checking about 2 weeks ago and it went all places - some fat winding roads up Mount Tambourine and around Canungra, through the CBD, out the back of Greenbank - all sorts. I got to be smiley stamp girl at a passage control but don't remember any rollas? But definitely remember: - black RX8 (GORGEOUS!! :D ) - verree nice brand new Madza 3 - a stunning BMW M3 - 300ZX driven by this cool chick that made her boyfriend nav!! :D and a variety regular streetwear including a few cute minis (of the old and new variety), WRXs, a rally gemini etc I also got to be drinks/grease monkey chick at the end ... all in all, a great way to meet new people interested in joining in club activities. Notwithstanding minor arguments over questions and answers (how many ducks?!), everyone seemed to be smiling at the end.... an enjoyable day really. You guys really got to get to some events!!! datgirl

Good evening Finally registered!!! Yes, a datto lover amongst the rolla lovers - quite a contrast, but I'm sure I'll have you all converted in no time! :D Mr Redwarf, who gave you permission to plaster pics of my beloved here?!! :D MY toy! :D Datgirl
