Yeah, when I sold my Honda Civic to get into RWD Datsun 1600 (Dino), I thought it would take a couple of motorkhanas to figure it out. *pppfftt* as if, how WRONG was I?! :D It took a LOT longer than that to get used to it - like a year and some more to become competitive. I'm going to take the Redatto in the motorkhana on Sunday and trust me, I'm going to be no good at it!! But, yes Mr Redwarf, it has taken me a LONG time to not take every single event seriously. At least I can laugh about it now, I think that the Broadwater carpark motorkhana was the first time I completely sucked and laughed about it!! I just enjoy doing skids now. They used to call it the "Mel Face of Death" :jason: - I used to get so cross at myself about mistakes or going slow, but no more ... I think I kind of expect it, and if I do well then I am pleasantly surprised!! :P :) Tangent - Fook, a guy from the Gold Coast club sent me a clipping from their local newspaper about the motorkhana and a pic of me driving Redwarf was up top. Only 3 other pics were featured - one of Gazza, Keith (I think) and ....YOU!! I'll bring a copy for you on Sunday if the car is together enough to go.

Me too... I think. Where is it? Where can we get supp regs?

General update: I heard a rumour that this round was not likely to count towards the QMS due to the problems we discussed. True or false? Also, when is the next motorkhana?

Would love to pitch in for the chicks team but it's the weekend of the last round of the Qld Rally championship at Gallangowan. Not that I'm any good at karting, but I'd give it a shot!! sorry girls, sounds like fun!!

I'm not sure either, but I understand it's short for "web log" and it's where people post stories about themselves etc. See Faces for an awesome example of a site with blogs! (shameless plug for friend's web site)

GREAT Road were WAY too fast though, I was able to do the ole 'beat my chest' boy thing and grunt: "I had the car in top gear and the tacho was pointing to made in japan". The roads were smooth and fast, we used hardly any tyres. I had overheating problems that we discovered by noticing coolant pouring onto the road at the beginning of stage 2 - the hose clamp to the bottom of the radiator was loose, the radiator cap wasn't fitting properly and the overflow bottle had a hole in it (unknown prior to the rally)! So, unfortunately, whenever the temperature climbed, I had to back off big time and coast down huge hills to get the temp down. Unfortunately I had to do 2 stages like that which cost us about 5 min extra. But we weren't about to give up thankyouverymuch (as suggested by some). My AWESOME service crew fixed the problems at the major service break, and Tracey and I managed to post some reasonable times (for us) in the last 2 stages. And we had LOADS of fun. The car was grunty and consistent, the only disappointment was the thick dust while the sun was setting. The Ari Vatenen one-hand was employed on many an occassion! All in all, the past 3 months of furious and expensive work on the car was absolutely worth it, even just for 2 stages of fun. While I'm here, I'll have to publicly and wholeheartedly thank Mr Dixon for the lend of his garage, his tools and expertise in being instrumental in getting me to the rally. I simply could not have done without him, Wayne and my other half who put massive hours into getting me to the rally. Only 1 and a half months until the next one - 30th October is the KCF Rallysport Rallysprint in Jimna State Forest. Mark it in your diaries and join us. Redwarf Mark 2 (bluey) is likely to make it's debut!! And we will definitely need road blocks again and the spectating is really great. And, for the record, Mrs Dixon has not given birth yet. Bub is now 3 days overdue and we think that it could be a couple of days yet. dg

Wow, thanks guys, I only just saw this thread!! Teddy, if I saw that sign in the forest I would absolutely DIE. Then I would know that I had REALLY made it - look at me, I'm like Redwarf! Thanks to Grim for the fat stickers - great job!

1. Log in everyday and post at least once? Yes! 2. Checking back every 15mins to see if anyone has posted? No, thank goodness 3. Trouble finding other things to do on the internet? No, there are way too many good rally websites out there and ebay is a new cool thing I have discovered. 4. A problem where you couldn't get to rollaclub, did you miss it? Yes, I missed it!! 5. Emoticons? No, phew! So, 2 out of 5, I think I'm safe. Although, they do say that just when you think you "have it under control", you get addicted. I suspect that I'm falling into rollaclub addition!

Please consider, we really need officials for this event! You get the BEST seat in the house doing road blocks and exclusive access to rally people!! Look out for the datgirl bright red Datsun 1600 and don't forget to cheer!!

When the aim of the competition is to be a post whore.....?

I'm one of those people who is really bad at telling jokes, and I'm equally bad at recalling Simpons quotes. But another fave is: Homer: (offers Lisa box of doughnuts) Would you like a doughnut? Lisa: Dad, doughnuts aren't healthy. Don't you have any fruit? Homer: Look Lisa, here's a doughnut with purple in it. Purple's a fruit!

stoppit!!! we can count you know

Probably why rally cars are plain old RED

No, it looks like it's YAWNING! Although I must admit that the tilted head shot was ALMOST cute... [mumbles] stupid cats
-
Teddy, size doesn't matter! What happened to quality not quantity? And copying large chunks of text surely shouldn't count?!!!!! I'm sure I could beat ANY of you in a type-off speed test!! (yes that was a physical challenge thrown out there - have no idea how we'd enforce?!)
-
I stand corrected!!

Everyone has a favourite Simpsons quote. Mine goes something like this (forgive me, it won't be verbatim and it's going to be long): [scene setting] The episode is where the kids are snowed into their school. Principal Skinner has become a nazi drill sergeant and the school kids are sleeping in hessian bags on the floor etc. They rebel and trick Principal Skinner into a big bag that normally stores medicine balls. His head is poking out the top and they are tormeting him. (be patient I'm getting there) The kids send out the school pet "Nibbles" the rat out to find help. Ned Flanders and Homer Simpson save the day, get the kids out etc. But I swear the whole episode was set up for this line. Principal Skinner is still stuck in the bag and sees the rat: "Quick Nibbles, chew through my ball sack!" :) I nearly died laughing.

I had the SCARIEST dream last night - flying vampires were coming to get me!! Yep, FLYING F*ING VAMPIRES! With big wings and huge fangs. I woke up during that one which almost NEVER happens, was too scared to go to sleep again!

But we have a similar facility in SEQ (but admittedly not as fully operational as that), called Darlington Park? That's what one rich guy has already done and it's pretty awesome. But they're having major problems with the neighbours who don't like the noise, so you'd have to make it in Gympie yeehaw or sumpin. Wheels from HSCCQ has always said that when he wins lotto he's going to set up the biggest shed and have indoor, air conditioned motorkhanas.

Err, what would this involve?!

Does a chickie jumping up and down at her desk singing happy birthday count??! 23 is young, trust me you're still a baby!
