  1. Hey all, in the process of (well trying to...) change shocks and springs in my KE70 front struts. Both struts are out of the car but I'm damned if I can even start to dismantle them. I can't crack the top nut under the dust cap. Trying to do so just turns the shock absorber. Is there a trick to stop the shock turning or is it more a case of using a rattle gun or some such? I'm sure the whole process is fairly simple I've just never done it before and gregory's is of very little help. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
  2. Sup. Anyone got a 4age head they want to part with?
  3. Just cause Gregor wanted... and maybe some spam will result in an answer to mah question. Either way... This is mah daily. Or was anyway. Now please, can someone answer me which out of those above shocks would you choose if you had to. And a reason? Cheers cobs
  4. Sorry, I meant from the ones I listed above. Or are they all really that similar?
  5. My cars not low at all, whiteline springs all round. So whatever that drop is. I just thought there would be something better out there. Better than OEM anyway... I had already bought the springs ages ago and some ke70 slotted brakes before I'd given much thought what I wanted to use the car for. So I guess I'll just use what I've got to get the car on the road and when the time comes and cash is there change to something else. I'm sure OEM shocks will be fine with whiteline springs, just no doubt it could be better. Ah well... If you guys had to choose one brand there what would you go for?
  6. It appears that there is f@$k all decent 'sporty' shocks available for the KE70 struts. With most companies offering OEM replacements or nothing. So for those that haven't changed over to sprinter/corona/T18 struts. What shocks have you put in the front of your KE70? So far I've only found these companies to supply shocks to suit: Gabriel Monroe ACDelco Pedders Currently thinking either of the first three and f@$k pedders off.
  7. Or maybe in a crimp? I have a white ke70 sitting downstairs now! hooray, was a c**t to get here though due to struts playing silly buggers but anyway. Huzzah!
  8. This guy knows, you just earnt some mad respect. :hmm: You down with robot chicken too?
  9. Just a bit dead today? I thought fridays were lazy days?
  10. And its back again again! Ha HAAAAAAA dangly parts
  11. Bah, bits go where they're meant to. Clearance if for chumps! 8k rpm, and clearances will sort themselves out! :jamie:
  12. Haha no they don't, but I'm used to ye olde 4K. Bucket and shim clearancse sound like a bit of witch craft to me. Don't you need differenet shims and things too or some such? I dunno, I'll read up before I strip ze head.
  13. saving $200 by spending an hour doing stuff yourself is gunnery though. So hopefully I can convince myself its worth it :jamie:
  14. haha, nah I understand yours will be hugemungenous but dang it. I just wanted it to be cheaper! I suppose $250 is ok but jsut means I have to learn how to set tappets with shims and bullshit. farken.
  15. f@$k machining is expensive :jamie: $440 for JNL to rebuild the head pretty much. $250 if I do most of the labour myself. f@$ken, tempted to just give it to them and say f@$k it. but thats a lot of dosh.
  16. What are you potentially getting done there? The whole engine build? I need to talk to them sometime, need them to work magic with one of my 4A heads. They're both in pretty sorry states :jamie: Want to cut down their cost heaps though by doing as much as I can myself. But no doubt cost is still going to be high. Fail!
  17. Coilovers are for chumps. Spend the money on soemthing more fancy :jamie:
  18. Won't the MVR/TAC rip you a new one for having a screamer pipe? Plus, haven't heard a good one yet!
  19. Fair enough dude, as long as you're going to end up with what you actually want!
  20. Why exactly do you want a FWD turbo monster again?
  21. Unless you've been back there since I put the stock struts back in the KE70 there was what looked to be one front coilover strut sitting in the shed with the other stock ke70 strut. and I thought he only had front coilovers? Check his original posts on boost maybe? I can't get a car trailer currently either so no ke for meeeeee... yet.
  22. I needs me an oil cooler and oil sammich plate!
  23. Put struts in ze white ke70 today. That shit be dodge, but gotta take em out again anyway so meh. Only for on and off ze trailorz! When you collecting the ae82 and shite Adam?
  24. I found out a 212mm clutch/flywheel combo will fit into a T50.
  25. The stock AE86/T50 combo clutch is 200mm yeah? Surely a 212mm or 215 or whatever it is could fit in the box. The tolerances aren't that tight are they? I just checked the clutch disc I got with the RWD 4a I bought ages ago, its actually pretty good! the pressureplate is pretty rusty though. That'd come off though as soon as it went in! :D
