in the engine bay mostly. from when my bro aquaplaned straight into a speed sign. quoted around $1000 to fix, engine had pretty much carked it as well, blowing heaps of smoke and eatin oil. kept on dying going uphill as well  still runs, just not worth keeping

I have now de-registered Toby, his engine is f***ed, and there's too much structural damage from previous owners to even bother trying to fix him up. So as of the 18th of April he will be going to French Island as a paddock basher. Farewell noble stead. You were good when you weren't being a lump of shite. My next car, which I hope to be a project car, will be either a panno, ke70/ae71 or a twincam ae82.

Just read through this entire post - all i can say is WOW really want a ke70 again! amazing job you've done on that AE71 as well was actually a bit sad when the thread ended, can't wait for more updates good luck Jordan

Can't wait to see this beaut on the road. Shame about the 4AGE plans not going through But I fully understand. had similar plans for my AE82, going back to uni this year, so they're all scrapped and it'll just be a basic cleanup ;) Still, love the 2 doors!

This is a story of a family heirloom so to speak. This Seca was first bought by my dad as a cheap run around back in 2003. After upgrading to a new Seca in 2005, my brother bought it. After which, it quickly fell into disrepair as the interior and engine were being neglected. This became even more evident after sitting stagnant for a year in my bro's garage. After ditching my old KE70 "Stan", I was due for an upgrade. So, as this Seca had already been owned by both of the other men in my family, it was only right for it to become mine. And so it did, for the choice sum of $25O. Although I was quickly to find out that the starter motor, master/slave clutch and alternator belt were all on the way out. within a month of buying it, I had forked out a cool $1000. but not to worry, this thing had a charm of its own, no amount of breaking down was going to stop me. So I kept it. I've had plans for this car in the past, these are currently linked under my old username on this thread > http://www.ae82.net/members-rides/15...-liftback.html. But these plans are dead, as is my cash flow for the next 3 years. For a while I was constantly thinking of other cars I could buy and rebuild, however, now that I'm heading back to Uni next year I'll have to keep this car and make do. Now that I've made the decision to keep it, I've also been able to make a list of all the things that have gone wrong, and things I'll be doing to restore it. For some reason all my cars have had guys name, and this one is no different, the Seca shall be called.... TOBY. And now for the specs, problems and plans: Specifications: 1985 Toyota Corolla AE82 Seca CS-X - FWD 5 Door Liftback - 1.6L 4A-C Engine -Single Overhead cam -1587cc -Power Steering -Carburettor -Air Conditioning (without belt and in need of regassing) - Audio -ALPINE HEADUNIT -2 CLARION 6" splits in the front -2 KICKER 6*9's in the rear -1 KICKER SUB and AMP - Accessories -Alloy Wheels 15 inch -Parcel Shelf - Colour: Blue PROBLEMS -Front Brakes running out of pad -Rear brake cylinders leaking -Engine blowing lots of blue smoke/dying -Too much body roll around corners -Bonnet faded -Scratches on paintwork -Broken Parcel Shelf -Front speakers needing to be remounted -Stock alloy wheels -Fuse not installed for amp -Windows not tinted -Rust holes near fuel filler cap, and rear right wheel arch -Rear right speaker hole not colour matching -Dash cover broken, needs replacing -Subwoofer not screwed down, slides around -No AE82OC sticker atm and the best part, my PLANS: -Replace front/rear brakes -Replace current engine with working 4A-C or 4A-GE -Lower car all around -Repsray bonnet in stock blue -Fix scratches + paint over them -Replace parcel shelf -Mount front speaker pods and speakers -Remount new rear speakers in stock location/parcel shelf -Remove seats/interior items and thorough clean -Fit new 17" Alloy Wheels -Cut out rust, replace with metal, bog and paint rust holes -Source new dash cover, tacho housing that isn't broken + fit -Source new matching rear right speaker fitment -Make new PVC floor for boot -Screw down Subwoofer into new PVC floor -Source AE82OC sticker and fit -Tint windows -Install Sub/amp fuse -Remove current PVC fitment for front speakers -Source front storage compartment for centre console (from twincam AE82) -Respray back/front bumpers and mud gaurds in black Ok, enough reading, picture time. I recently gave him a good clean, so here he is... meet, TOBY... So, please tell me what you think. As I cross off all of the things to do I will update this thread with as much info and photos as possible. Please be aware, there will be no major rehaul though, as I'm just too damn broke atm

good basis for a build. bad luck about the rust though :P I have never seen rust like that before. sheet metal and a welder ought to get that all fixed up for ya, oh, and heaps of time as well :( -
I'm liking this very much . Keep the updates coming. Damn lack of 2 door KE70's in Aus :P
