I have looked into making an air box i have a rough cardboard mock up at home and have experience with fibreglassing that type of stuff but its a bit hard to mock up without the carbs on the car. I was thinking a small removable filter panel on the air box behind the strut tower so the rear carb can draw enough air if needed and will still be pulling fresh air from the front

A few more pieces of the puzzle turned up.. WPC coated bearings New 40mm DCOE weber kit Just need to assemble the linkage kit and modify the intake a little. They have been jetted to close k specs i had so should mean easier when it comes time to tune. Next on the list is all tie rod, ball joints and idler arm etc to be replaced in the next few weeks then a fresh wheel alignment. After that get my cam reground and work out how far I'm going with the head work

Definitely some bits to be saved off that... :((

Just a small update on this found that 4k rod bolts have identical part no. as toyota 1g motors so I'm going to look into if you can get ARP's for 1g motors

Hers a pic of the angle of my control arm on my ke20 with the 33mm T3 RCA's Ride height is about 105mm at the lowest point which it the gearbox cross member. Ive always been told you want your LCA ends pointing down or flat to best avoid bump steer..

Checked the block I'm going to use and its the ribbed one so i can move forward on the build. All the right bits are going in this motor so i didnt want to throw them away on a block that can crack easily. Anyone know anything on the rod bolts?
-
Thanks! i didnt come across that thread in my searches. The motor i just pulled from my car has a crack in the block and was leaking coolant but still ran fine i will have to check if its ribbed or not

Ok so i'm starting my 4k build soon and have read the tough 4k wiki many times and it mentions the 4k block with ribs that are stronger.Does anyone have a pic of the ribbed block for comparison ? I have a block here with small ribs under the welch plugs but i'm unsure if it is the correct block i want to use. google images isn't really helpful plenty of pics of 4k's but not much of that specific area of the engine. A decent amount of money will be spent on my motor and i don't want to throw it all away on a weak block. Also i have found part numbers for ARP head studs on the net and already have ARP flywheel bolts but haven't been able to find anything on ARP rod bolts that work i have read talk of 3sge fitting but nothing confirmed does anyone know part numbers of anything known to fit? they are probably unnecessary but i'd rather build it once right and have piece of mind knowing it will hold together. Thanks, Haydn

Is the oil pump shimmed? could try that to up the pressure Also is the thicker oil your running ideal for a fresh built motor?

Every 4k i've pulled apart (3) has had a double

Thanks for the pics,Weird about the odd fitment

185 60's and a 2 inch drop you'll most likely be tucking tyre in the rear and have a small gap in the front. How do the fronts fit? stick out much? I'm thinking of going a similar size in the future. If you could post a pic of the front from above would be much appreciated
