  1. Hey all. My ke38 has its original in dash AM radio and a tape player molded into the centre console, from which i'm told isn't in all of them. Seeing as i'm not really going for the original feel of my ke38 I was wondering wether the original tape player and AM radio are worth anything from a sale point? Like are they hard to come by? Or just pull it out and throw them in the bin?
  2. I can never seem to find anything for 5ks, and i never find a complete engine so using anything 5k is sort of out of the question. My first car ( back in 1999 ) was a ke30 4 doors sedan, i searched high and low for a 5k and never with any luck. None of our local wreckers could ever source them or anything for them. So i think that Tamworth must be a 5K freezone or something. Anywho, if i was going to yank the motor out of the car for the sake of another i would probably butcher a 18R or 2T into it, if i could be bothered. Anywho, i think the weber may be the " less screwing around " option for the 4k, so with the weber ( 32/36 DGV ) correctly jetted, blue 202 valve springs and extractors and exhaust which cam would be best for me? It will be street driven, but like 1 day a week if that, registered so on and so forth. Just chasing more grunt really, coz stock is real painfully slow.
  3. I'm still waiting to hear about this whole Blue 202 valve springs into a 4k idea??? There would be machining involved??? Which collets and retainers do you use??? Yeah i'm still up in the air as to wether to go twin SU or weber 32/36 DGV, deal is i can get a weber for VERY cheap if not free if i winge at my escort mate enough lol. Twin su's i'd have to find first, got a bloke who will knock up pretty much any manifold i want out of alloy so thats sweet. He did me a XF throttle body mouthed rb30 front intake manifold for me for like $100 ( i supplied the NA rb30 manifold and he converted it all over for me including repositioning the throttle body and welding it all up, neat job too.) By the way, can never find extractors for 3 or 4k on ebay, where do you guys usually buy them and what they worth roughly???
  4. I thought u'd get better results from twin su's ? I got a mate who has a pile of those 32/36 DGV webers or what ever you call them, he stock piles escorts and doesn't really use the 32/36, he prefers twin su's as i do. Yeah shave the hell out of the head should bump it up a bit, bugger rebuilding the bottom end. The whole lightened flywheel debate... in my experience those who have torque don't worry about it, those who don't do lol. I suppose we are talking K series motors here, sort of torquely challenged lol. The way i see it anyway why screw around with the fly wheel when you could spend that time looking for more power/torque elsewhere.
  5. I was reading something about a stage 3 cam with 280 deg duration if that makes any sense. I usually buy a cam recommended for a particular setup, involves ringing the manufacturer or dealer up to ask which cam is right for my application. I'm not fully clued up on the whole duration and degrees things works. I'm all for suggestions and explainations... Yeah i'm aware of the "45kw" at the fly, not at the wheels lol. and the 0Nm of torque they don't have lol. Blue 202 valve springs, interesting.. need machining i'd imagine??? I was just going to buy some crow jobs but i'm all for a cheaper alternative. Was also considering electronic ignition... 100hp out of a 4k would be fair screaming id imagine, 100hp @9000rpm lol
  6. Hey all, got a real nice and healthy 4k-c 4 speed, which sits in a late ke38. Was thinking of puting a 18R in it, but i've been told its a lot of mucking around for little reward. I was also considering the 2t conversion but its only 13kw up on the 4k to begin with, so that sounds like a waste of time to me. Anywho, as i stated, my 4k-c is in very good condition so i thought why not mod it. The 4k is rated at 45kw on most sites, so i was wondering what the following mods will fetch me: Stage 3 cam, double valve springs, mild port job, extractors and 2 inch exhaust and a set of twin 1.5 inch SU's. What kinda kw's at the fly can i expect... approx???
  7. yeah i have a mark1 cortina aswell, bumperettes for it are about $800 a set second hand, like wise with the escort ones. My bumpers are shagged so it won't make a difference, my back one is almost completely ruined. Probably just chop up the ones i have, considering it probably easier to turn them into bumperettes than straighten them lol.
  8. Just wondering if anybody has seen bumperettes fitted to a ke 30 or ke38? Has it been done before? I know they didn't come out with them.
  9. Just wondering does the bottom of the back seat in a ke30 sedan interchange with the one in a ke38 wagon? The part of the back seat you actually sit on, not the back rest. Cheers.
