The nova's came with either the 4AFE or the 4AGE I beleve, should be able to take one from a 88-92 corolla sedan or sr5. If its a 4AGE a 88-92 Corolla GTS or MR2 would have it.

So i replaced the switch about a year ago and it has stopped working again. Only the high heat setting was working, so i am wondering if there is a easy way to wire a simple on off switch for "off" and "full". Any suggestions would be great, its -4celcius out and no heat sucks. Thanks.

so after more looking around in the engine i took the air intake off and looked down the carb and saw what looked like a little rock stuck in the bottom butterfly valve proping it open slightly. Using a long screwdriver i attempted to un-lodge the rock. i could barly even open the valve using the end of the screwdriver but the rock did move slightly, but now the car idles between 2 and 3.2k making it very difficult to drive. Any suggestions as to how i might get this rock out? Thanks.

Was driving my 88 AE92 4afc today and was going up a hill and when i was going to gear down for a light i noticed that the car was jerking and surging on trailing throttle. i put the clutch in after realizing this and noticed that the car was idleing at 2000rpm. I pulled off the road to check under the hood and looked around and saw that a vac hose coming off what i think is the high altatude filter box thing. After puting the vac hose back on it made no difference. I decided to get home as soon as possible and drove for about half an hour then i noticed the car was driving perfectly again. I was on a mountain a fair ways above sealevel. I drove to a friends house and checked everything againg and headed home. 10 minutes later it was doing the same thing again. just got home half and hour ago and am writing this post. Anyone have any idea as to what could be going on? Thanks.

I have a AE92 and it does the same thing but only after i put on some 17' low pro tires. + my power steering pump is about to go i think. but it is annoying everytime i hit a bump i gotta be grabbing the wheel so it dosnt jump around.

Made it out of a Rad hose from a turbo desel truck and exhaust parts. cost about $70 all said and done (including $57 k&n filter). seems cold to me. i have run the motor hard and felt the intake and its fine, also the temp gauge sits about 20% lower then it used to under normal conditions.
-
yah, sounds a bit better. i didnt like all the stock crap and wanted a k&n.

I running an old 4AFC and shes got 270k and still pulls hard. i drive it about 200km a day and she starts right up every time. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I put a exhaust on my 4AF-C and it is LOUD! I noticed a little increase in power. Sounds nice when it idles and sounds good when your given'er, but it is very loud.
-
I got the 4AF and put a cold air intake and exhaust on it. rips pretty good for 269k on the motor. when she finnaly goes I'm gonna drop a 4AGE in.

in that picture it looks like there is a fuel filter attached to the valve cover breather.

Yah sprayed some contact cleaner on the switch (little metal ball that rolls accross the contacts) and wiggle the crap out of it and nothing, might borrow a multimeter and do the continuity like you suggested.
-
I assume its a AE92, I own a 1988 AE92 and the door switch doesn't work at all, the light works in the on position, but in the door position it will not go on with all the doors open but when any of the doors are open the "open door" light comes on. Not sure what the issue is, i cleaned the contacts of the mechanical switch on the light but no luck.

I got an AE92 and only the highest setting on the heater works and it will crap out while I'm driving intermittantly, if i wiggle the switch it will usually come back on. gonna replace the blower motor resistor soon.

Did the seals on my 88 AE92 4AF-C and the old seal and sparkplug tube seals where veeery hard and difficult to get out (guess 21 years heating up and cooling down will do that). Pics:

Rattle Coming From Front Right Wheel- Ae92
eberbs replied to cee7resh's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
I own a AE92 and have noticed some strange little noises from the front left area of the car. Changed the front left CV (i knew it was stuffed), but there is still the odd noises while I'm driving, sort of intermittant. There is also a slight sqeeking coming from that area but only at night, its very very strange but not annoying enough for me to investigate. -
ok so i cut out some of the vac line that was slack and it seems to idle alot better, but when i start the car when the engine is cold it idles at 600-700rpm (almost stall) unless i give it gas and then it will start to idle normaly and then the choke will open. i think there maybe a problem with the choke becuse sometimes (completly random) it will diesel after i shut the car off and i need to pop into 1st and stall it. (very annoying). The carb is old and needs to be replaced, but anyone got a temp soulution
