Hey all As some of you know i just moved to south australia and recently moved into my new unit. After setting everything up i thought i would chill out and watch some TV to find that with my old dodgy indoor aerial that i get barely any reception, can get channel 10 but not in colour. I went and bought another aerial one from bigW which was an amplified aerial so now i can get channel 10 in colour not great reception but bareable, but no other channels. So i was thinking of getting a set top box to which i found that majority of them are around the 130 and upwards mark (i didnt do a great deal of searching - no wheels no options). So i was considering buying a Digital TV Tuner, specifically the Leadtek DTV1000 which is around 80 - 100 bucks. My question is, is it worth while? i don't have a VCR and figured if i got a pci tv tuner atleast i can record programs and if i want to watch it on the TV i can simply use the video and audio out. I've been told that digital can be good for places that get crappy analogue reception and i can't stand only having channel 10 as thursday late night is a great channel 7 night (family guy, american dad, scrubs) So yeah anyone with Digital TV tuner experience give me your 2c worth please. Cheers

i'd happily post pics but i don't own a digi cam, i might be able to take some with my video camera but i think my data cable is farked. I'm gonna get her towed back to my place as i don't wanna pay storage in the mean time. I spoke to AAMI who is the insurer of the other driver and they said i won't get re-imbersed (spelling?) for the storage but they said they will pay for the tow from the acco, and the tow to my place but then they said i have to get it towed to an authorised AAMI repairer which i don't like the idea of, as i don't want them to look at the rust and try and fark me in the arse. I did some reading and saw that insurers won't pay out a claim if the car is unroadworthy and it contributed to the accident so i can't see how some rust caused the acco but i still get nervous around insurers as they will shaft you at any chance possible. I'm upset she's gone but oh well, it was fun while it lasted btw if you havent noticed i always write semi long posts :D but yeah if anyone in or near gawler is bored and wants to come round and take some happy snaps of the dead machine they are more than welcome to PM me and ill give ya my mobile and you can check out my dead ke25.

cheers for the pm it's sooo annoying, i got taken off in the ambo and didnt get a chance to get her contact details, just got her name and address from the coppers so hopefully i can get a lift off one of the blokes from work and hunt her down and hopefully she is insured. Would be nice to get another rolla, keep up the rollaclub tradition of no substitute for a toyota now just gotta find a dr to get more pain killers, as i can barely move my neck. Not takin any time off work, i'm on light duties for the next couple o weeks so better off going to work than sitting at home with nothing to do. cheers fellas

Morning All /RANT ON MY CAR IS DEAD, Just moved into my new unit yesterday and was down at the shops, got a phone call saying my fridge is being delivered so i figured i should get my ass back to my unit. Silly me forgot the little short cut i had figured out and ended up coming down a road i didn't need to. Travelling at a comfortable 50kph on 2nd Street in Gawler an old lady decided GIVE WAY signs are for chumps and pulled out of 6th St in front of me which led to me T-BONING her and writing off my car. So now my neck is in agony as i've no doubt got some whiplash as the standard seat belts in a 1973 car are some what lacking in tightness and to top it all off I HAVE NO DAMN CAR ANYMORE, and sweet f#@k all money to buy another one. So if anyone in Adelaide has a really cheap registerable car for sale please feel free to let me know as for the time being i'm stuck in gawler twiddling my thumbs. /RANT OFF Cheers

i'm a big fan of drumming up old posts and figured this would be the perfect post to ask a question. I own one of paul p's old cars fook you know it as the red rocket, it's got a hydraulic handbrake in it but paul obviously didnt mind the illegal fact that it doesnt have a cable hand brake as a backup, i wanted to know how hard it is to install the mechanical handbrake as obviously if i ever get the damn project finished ill need one to get it over the pits. Cheers Also another question off topic if someone knows, why would paul have put a smaller track diff in a car that he used to rally? it's got a 120y diff which i found out dereases the track by 3". Cheers again

I'm pretty sure Megz is running a 16v not a 20v. So i don't think it is him. -
Attn Sa People Rego Question / Help Needed
mlaser replied to mlaser's topic in Automotive Discussion
I'm in a mental debate with myself at the moment, I've been going over the car and wished i had addressed these rust issues back in QLD (mate of mine owns a workshop with welding tools etc) as i'm thinking my car is near write off with all the rust spots. Just yesterday going over it i found atleast 5 problem areas, 4 rust bubble areas along the left and right main pillar along the front windscreen averaging about 3-4cm long and 2-3 cm wide. Also found a largish rust spot at the bottom corner of the drivers door seam (not the actual door which has rust spots on the outside, but the bottom corner of the door surround) i'll try and get hold of a digi cam once i have a place and can upload them with my pc as i'm forced to use the work for net access at the moment. So i'm debating whether or not to continue driving the car or simply find a cheap car to buy down here. SOO MUCH TO DEAL WITH DAMN MOVING.................... If anyone wants to have a gander and voice their opinions i work till around 2pm at the moment as i'm doin morning shift. Otherwise i'm up at gawler in the place work has put me up in. Cheers -

Cheers for the location advice. Some of the guys have warned me off salisbury mainly because of elizebeth i think and the fact that its right next to it, also because the general feel is if you live close to work your gonna be the first called in when something goes wrong hehehe. Picked up the yellow beast yesterday, only a few hiccups................did the walk around of the car and well she looked as dodgy as i remember her so i went back inside and signed the form. Get back into my car to find that my semi dodgy head unit install had been f@$ked, it was basically just a metal surround going around the front of the head unit, so it did tend to angle down at the back with no support, but in my 4-6 months of driving the car pretty hard it had never failed, yet TNT managed to somehow snap the metal bracket on one side. It was annoying but didnt bother me that much, cause what do they care about $3 dollar product, i was more curious as to how the f@#k it happened. The next thing i found wasn't until i was basically home. Since moving to Adelaide i've been a tiny bit paranoid, new place, don't know anyone etc etc so decided not to park on the side of the road and instead park in the parking behind the complex i'm living in at the moment. Going around a corner there was a bit of a dip and bump in the road so i slowed down for it, hit the bump and suddenly my rear brakes are locked on. It was sudden and short lived and i'd been on the road since 2 and it was now 5 so i was ready just to get inside and chill. I've got zero tools apart from a car jack here so there really wasn't much i could do anyway. Come this morning and i'm driving to work hoping i don't hit a bump or anything doin 100 as i didnt want a high speed version of what happened yesterday. Managed to get to the front of the RAAF base no dramas until i went over a bump and the rears locked up in front of two security officers who thankfully just laughed as i must have looked pretty shocked. SO yeeah gotta fix my handbrake cable me thinks, although i'm not looking forward to creeping under the car using a car jack, other possible cause i guess could be the rear shoes but i'm thinking the cable may have been damaged in transport if the TNT dudes wrapped the chain anywhere near it. So if you don't hear from me on Monday, i've been crushed by a yellow car. -

Cheers for the reply's, muchly appreciated. Now the only thing i gotta sort out is finding a place to live, hopefully will end up in gawler if all goes according to plan, looks like a nice enough place to live. I pick up my car today so if you see a yellow ke25 with "BODGIE BROTHERS" sticker on the back that's me. (Note: Sticker came with car, fits the car in my opinion haha) -
Hey All Just moved from Brisbane to Adelaide to start an apprenticeship at the RAAF Base. I decided to bring my car with me to save the hassle of getting to know your public transport system. I spoke to some guys at my work about my car and the dodgy factor of it and they said that it can be a real pain in the butt to register a car here mainly because of the vehicle inspection done by SA transport (dunno what they are officialy called yet). I was told that they are very thorough and well my little dunga although mechanically road worthy has some/a bit of cancer in her and some holes, mostly patches of bubbles. Is anyone on this forum from SA and a mechanic who might be able to give me some advice on what i'll need to get fixed in order to get my car registered down here. Better yet is anyone a panel beater who could help me out with some cheap as possible rust repairs. I've got zero tools with me as my stuff won't be here for a week or two and even then i don't have the tools nor the know how to do the necessary rust repairs. So yeah if anyone can give me some suggestions on where to go and what to do that would be great (and going back to bris aint an option for any smart asses :) ) Also GDAY South Australie people i'm new to your state and once I'm up and running would love to get to know my fellow toyota fans, btw my car is a yellow KE25 which i picked up from an abandoned car auction :), someone loved this car at some stage cause they did a fair amount of work to it (including smashing in the passenger door). So drop me a line and say G'day. Cheers ~MLaser

Got a ke25 that I'm putting a 4agte into, it's currently got a 120y diff which handled a 3tgte but i'll be pumping around 250hp at the wheels hopefull and don't think the diff will last. Anyone know what is a good diff conversion for these. all help appreciated. cheers
