  1. I recall running into this before, I think they are Stanley (the Japanese light manufacturer) globes you want. the fitting is slightly different and found on JDM hondas usually. This is going a while back but i'm sure that's what it is. the globes are expensive compared to the std ones and hard to get, a company called dasko in NZ could supply you some, or just trim that tab :)
  2. hi phil thanks for sending the struts =) much appreciated.

  3. is the master cylinder new or been sitting? you may need to "bench bleed" the master if it is dual circuit. i did mine in the car, just make up short lines/pipes that run from the outputs for the brake lines back up to the reservoir(s), fill the reservoir(s)(making sure the ends of the short lines are submerged) and pump the pedal till all the bubbles stop coming thru. then reconnect the brakes lines and bleed as normal. there are plenty of tutorials on youtube if this makes no sense :)
  4. or sell it to me if you do remove it!
  5. keep it! aircon is so good :)
  6. hi yas I recently responded to a for sale ad for a k50 gearbox that was listed in the for sale section of the forums, unfortunately many weeks after paying for the item and freight it has not been sent. having contacted the seller many times I have got excuses and promises and very few replies to my requests for updates. i've been polite but i'm getting nowhere. is there any options for me? (contacting admins, naming and shaming etc) or should i just suck it up and move on? $250 is not a lot of money to lose but it the principle and I'd like to make it harder for this person to rip someone else off. cheers :)
  7. the final word is "no options from local suppliers" trying contacts in NZ to see if there is anything around. =S
  8. sorry for the late reply. So it appears they will be using ke30 rotors that are 218mm and turning them down to 200, all other measurements are the same. however i will let you know for sure when the rotors arrive. I'll put some pics up for comparison, part numbers and photos of what I have on the car. :(
  9. part out the holden to pay for a nice toyota setup? :(
  10. my calipers are sumitomo different from akebono it looks like, but they are making some for me that will fit. :) Ta Simon
  11. lol i give up the height of mine are 30mm, so it seems i can use ke30 and machine them down from 218mm to 200mm and they should fit. or use aus spec ke20 calipers. :jamie: arrrgh oh well. see what the parts man says!
  12. sweet as! thanks for that see how i go. hopefully rda still have an option or something is available from NZ
  13. ok cool, so it seems something is up with the rotors maybe they are off a later model or got mixed up when they were machining the slots....i'll ask the supplier and see what they say. i had a look to see if i can space the caliper but it wont work :) thanks
  14. hi I'm using a ke20 brake setup on my kp36. its all in and an they work fine. recently i prurchased some ke20 slotted rotors RDA141. they bolt to the hubs and all the measurements are the same except the new ones are slightly taller. the calipers have sumitomo cast into them. i'm wondering if i have Japanese calipers and oz spec rotors? problem is now i can't fit the calipers back on as the rotor is too close to the mounting bracket any help is appreciated. Thanks Simon
  15. there is one being wrecked in car parts/wrecking part of the forum. looks ok good luck!
  16. been looking around for options to upgrade the front drums on my kp36, looks like ke1x/2x is the way to go to keep the original 110pcd, I'm stuggling to find options for a suitable brake master cylinder. can anyone tell me if ke1x/2x use 3/4 or 11/16 or am i way off? i think dual circuit would be the way to go as well. installing a 4k as well so extra stopping power wouldnt hurt and I'm open to any other suggestions that other people have used in their ke10/20's ta simon
  17. nah only get about 1/2 a nuts worth of thread :y: il put some longer ones in later, upgrading front to disc anyway so will see how that works out.
  18. probably could but i just wanna keep it standard as possible for its inspection, no point giving the inspector something to fail it on, i think a good option for later on tho.... ahh this is good news! now to find some ke20 front struts with brakes, brake master to suit, wheels and a 4k/k50 setup. thanks for the info ;) great someone else who has farted in my seat! ;) lol well glad you liked it, the 2k is a little gutless really although it could do with a decent tune up and a few new parts to get it 100% but i think it will be much much better with a 4k and a 5 speed like a starlet.
  19. yeah it is oh well, if any one knows where i might be able to get some preferably in sydney please let me know ;)
  20. yup they came on the car but i don't think the rear ones will be legal maybe too wide and useless snow tyres too lol dunno i have a couple of kp61's back in nz that have 4 x 114 like most old toyotas, I'm not sure about these tho, will measure them tomorrow to see
  21. Hello i recently purchased this 69 toyota 1000 wagon, i know its not really a corolla but hopefully you find it interesting anyway. It has a few issues such rust in various places, the brakes are toast, rattles in the suspension, a nasty interior, no heater unit, the usual home done wiring specials and exhaust leaks etc etc but i love it ;) so the plan is to tidy up the rust and mechanical faults to make it roadworthy, drive it for a while and then do paint and panel with some small mechanical mods, something along the lines of a 4k, k50 and disc brakes for the front. ive pulled the brake master cylinder to have it refurbed and brake linings sent off for relining and will tackle the rust next, I'm on the look out for a set of 13" steelies as the studs are too short for the rims that are on there. i have a blue slip inspection coming up and don't want to give them any reason to fail it ;) i think the pattern is 4 x 110  good luck to me. cheers simon :D
