http://www.rollaclub.com/board/forum/96-technical-builds/ Look through there mate. Almost every engine conversion has been done and WELL documented. 5k = 1g, 4age conversion is 3-4g doing all the work yourself, sr 5-10g all work yourself. Now if your going to use it as a dirt road thrash you are going to hit things, most probably write off your car in the first week you have it going, If not you'll do it the next week for certain. So why spend so much money. Unless you have previous experience with engine convo's and major mechanical tasks(not just servicing cars at your crappy dealership) then forget about sr.

Exactly. 5K: 5k persormance parts, extractors 2k,4k,5k extractors all bolt up, can be found easily on rollaclub: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/49838-k-motor-tube-headers/ buy a 4k for $50, unbolt head and take out the cam, send it away to get reground for $80. Webber kit can be had for 200-300 on here regularly too. 5k will cost you 300-400. That's around $1200 with engineers cert. ALTHOUGH you are on your P's and that means no engine conversions so no mod plate. The police will hardly ever pick up on this conversion. That will take you around 5-6 weeks to save up for unless you have no living expenses. It will take a weekend to do if you organise yourself. SR: $1000-1500 just for the engine, add inter cooler and piping (as you want to go turbocharged), Gearbox, materials for fab work, ecu, you'll also want a larger diff and tail shaft to suit, larger brakes and coil overs to comply with engineer cert and all related minor costs. Then there is the cert itself. Your looking at 5-10g. And that is if your mates do the work for free. That's 6months of you saving 100% of your money before you get everything in order to complete the conversion, let alone do the bloody thing. Conclusion: Save for a month or so, buy a 5k mod it and put it in for chump change, have some fun, figure out what it takes to do an engine conversion. Save up while your on your P's for said SR conversion, once you're on your opens go and do it properly and legally. Cheers, Crowie

So jelly! your kebab night was bigger than our all Japanese day :blinks:

It is mod plated in QLD though you'll have to get a roadworthy to re rego it. Are you going to engineer/mod plate yours? Are you on your P's? Have you ever even changed an engine over? Can you fabricate? Why so quick to bag out a 5k? have you ever driven a corolla with one? They are surprisingly quick and you can defiantly feel and see the difference. Bog stock 5k in my brothers 55 cost him a few hundred bucks, pulls hard and takes it to Na Silvia's, No attention from the cops. I suggest you pick up a larger k series engine first, get some experience, maybe modify it with extractors, carby, cam ect, then go for the whole hog later when you've finished your apprentiship, and can do a decent job of it. I'm also assuming this is your daily driver? K series engines take a mater of a few hours to change over, meanwhile 4age, sr20det ect take weeks to change over. How will you get to work? The key is to plan and organise everything, have everything ready to complete the job, set aside a weekend with a mate to do it, and some cash in case things don't work out. Cheers, Crowie.

"dodgy" Mods Youve Done To Your Car
Crowie55 replied to Evan G's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
I didn't run a gearbox cross member for a couple of weeks. Not too bad but dodgy as I will go. -

Job is a job man don't matter what you do it's money in your pocket to do things you want to do. Trust me my job is probably the worst on here(most disgusting) but it pays the bills for the time being. If its a bad job it gives you more motivation to find another better job. You have to start somewhere. cheers, Crowie

Finding my mates corolla, been thrashed, dinted quarter, rear quarter banged up from rim falling off and car landing on it. engine leaks excessive oil, tools missing. He has to pay for a mandatory tow fee to the cop shop... $350 later. We could have put the wheel back on and drove home.
-
Frothing the latest picture, wheels look awesome cleaned up too, my favourite car on rollaclub by far :y:

Don't even start me on chivalry and/or respect. This place is full of the most stuck up, self loathing, inconsiderate bastards on the planet.

Go 14's jono, 15's are too big on a ke35/55 imo, unless you run 50% profile or lower, but then it doesn't look period specific. 13's are also good. 6's or 7's are nice with 175/65/r13's. What type of rim are you looking for? cheers, Crowie

Just the info I need to change my diff on the weekend  :laff:

Car looks Amazing! great to see it's close to completion. I bet your itching to hit the track. cheers, Crowie.

hahahah GOLD!

I'm not at all worried, just had a laugh and told him to jam it princess.
-
Having some scum C&%# call me and threaten me. Reason: I was calling around and asking questions about the recent plague of stolen ke's on the gold coast. His name pooped up, but was found out later that he was somewhere else apparently. Threatened me to tell him who told me his name. Mate I know your name, what car you drive, who you hang out with, what you look like. I could get your address in a day. Wouldn't be going off if you didn't have something to hide. Silly boy.

towe001 has got it all. I have personally done this conversion on a ke55. Either way your going to have to weld up a cross member for a gearbox out of a 30-55 or 70 as the auto chassis have the holes but they aren't threaded and don't line up for either cross member. If you use a ke30-55 box you will have to cut the shifter hole about 2-3 inches further forward. It only puts the speedo out by around 8-10km/h reads faster than your actually going with an auto diff. cheers, Crowie

Differecnce Between Ke55/Ke30 Front Fenders
Crowie55 replied to newjak's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I'm assuming your talking about the front guards ie either side of the bonnet. yes they are also interchangeable, all models ke30-55 sedans, coupes, wagon's and panos have the same front end. -
Differecnce Between Ke55/Ke30 Front Fenders
Crowie55 replied to newjak's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
ke30 are all chrome, ke55 have the rubber ends, ke55 updates have elongated sides, they are all chrome with a black rubber strip through them. all bars are interchangeable on ke30 and ke55 models. -
cheers for all the kind words guys. I'll end this thread with my favourite photo of the car taken in the clem 7, on the last cruise I went on. :(
