Happy birthday Evan :y:

Oh forgot to mention, tomorrow the spare wheel holder will be removed from underneath the car and the spare placed in the rear with the rear seats folded down. I really despise driving people around in my car as something usually gets broken, or it's a major pain in the ass driving 4 other people back to their cars after a night out. This is also gives me a little more room to play with if I choose to go lower in the future as it is currently the lowest point of the car. Ordering holden vn wagon short stroke shocks and otomoto weld on coil over sleeve kit. Going any lower in the front with springs and short stroke shocks isn't really easy if I want a stiff and captive spring. Cheers, Crowie.

Hey guys, little bit of an update. Continuing with the bog work, slowly working out all of the dints in the car. Also fiddled with the rear bar/tow ball today. As a 4k is gutless at the best of times, as well as it being illegal for me to tow on my p's and the fact it is butt ugly, I feel the tow ball is unnecessary. ke55 bars (rubber end caps) are hideous so I also want to change that, so I played the ke30 chrome one and tried to fit it little tighter to the body of the car. Before: No bar: Ke30 bar just held in place: Chrome polished vs unpolished: Mmmm bodywork :bash: Would like to hear some feedback on the rear bar situation, a few of my mates suggest leaving the rear bar off, not very convinced on that idea. I know my numberplate is showing cbf removing. Cheers, Crowie.

June 19Th All Jap Classic Day Brisbane
Crowie55 replied to Undertaker_is_the_best's topic in QLD / Brisbane
True it would be hard to get people travelling from hours away in each direction to meet at a spot within 15 minutes of each other. Either way I hope to see a healthy number of corolla's scattered throughout the field. -

One month to go ladies and gents! Time to pull my finger out and get my car finished for this. Very excited to see everyone there. Any thoughts on a group entry? meet up down the road and roll in as a group? Cheers Crowie. -
Spotted on the Gold coast an aqua/green ke36 pano dumped on some globes, driven by a P plate chick. Could it get any better?

Falcon springs $80 Have you ever seen an 18 year old drift king? no! v6 in ke70 will still do the job and cheaper than any other option, He'll have fun, learn how to drive(we hope), learn what happens when things go wrong(in a safe environment = track) then get sick of "doozing skudddzz yooooo" After 6 months of screwing around with the gay drifting fad he'll grow up.
-
buy a ke70 for 200 bucks, put a como v6 in it for 1500, trailer it to the track have some fun crash it who gives a shit. skid it slide it whatever... you'll get over it after you spend 80% of your wages for 6 months. You'll realise drifting is for cashed up people with powerful turbo'd Japanese cars and not 18yr old wet weather warriors who think the can drift because they got mums falcon to over steer around a wet rounderbout when they went away. Have a pimp ke30 daily cruise around pick up chicks ???? profit.

Welcome fabz, keen to see your project. where abouts are you located?
-
you'll have to bend in the inside lip of the rear guards to fit the 7's under, other than that they will fit fine and look great :y: cheers, Crowie

Brake upgrade looks good man, could you possibly do a tech thread on them? very interested in how they turn out. Wagon looks good with the window tint also, will you be able to run your current rims with the larger brake setup? cheers Crowie.

This! A while back on a wet night me and a few mates went out for a bit of fun. I Lost it and put a ding in my front quarter, laughed it off at the time but I got home and felt like a wanker for doing it. My car was a bomb at the time but it was still my car and I should of been treating it with respect. I'm not into that wet night warrior shit now, loosing traction has no appeal to me any more, I'd rather go for an hour drive out west and have some fun on some tight roads with a couple of like minded mates.

Nice evan, what are your plans for this one? chuck it in the ke55? or put it on a crate and send it to me? :lolcry:

Yes later ke55 bonnet will fit onto a 79 early ke55. All exterior panels from ke3x-ke5x series corolla's are interchangeable except doors. wagon rear doors don't fit sedans and vise versa, front doors on 4 door models are the same though, unsure if 2dr sedan, 2dr coupe and pano doors are interchangeable though; could someone confirm or deny this?
-
Thanks caibs, Fronts will defiantly hang out of the guards with 205's although tucking tyre on the front with 13's on ke3x-ke5x seris corollas make them quite low and you run the risk of getting defected or punching a hole in your sump, If you want to run some nice wide wheels on the rear on your ke38 pano I suggest cutting off your original guards and welding on ke70 front guard flares. I currently have a ke38 wagon and have done this, Looks tough in my opinion and gives me some extra room to go wider and lower. Here is a link to my build: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/50885-crowies-ke38-wagon/page__st__15 If you would like some detailed photos of the guards just give me a pm. Cheers, Crowie

I ran 13x7 +-0 on my ke, works well with 175/65's lowered 2.5" any lower and you may have scrub issues, any lower and you'll be illegally low. check my topics for my ke55 coupe, the guards are the same and will give you a good indication of how they will look. Cheers, Crowie.

My whole world is shattered. thanks In all seriousness though the car looks ghetto from the outside but is quite a neat little rig, I can't think of anything they could ping me for. I know there will be something though.

History! this baby has 419,XXXkm of history haha. Very interested if you have any insight dougie?

I got pulled over to a defect station today, spoke nicely, showed them what they wanted to see. They went right through my car for about 15 mins. All clear and I was told to move along. OT: Make sure if your running an amplifier that the power and earth cables are secured every 400mm. Have had a few mates picked up for that one.

Coming along great man, nice work as always keep it up :y:

Screw Thread Direction - Loosen Or Tighten ??
Crowie55 replied to towe001's topic in General Mechanical
Summed it up perfectly, under the car and who knows what is dripping falling on you back and arms are hurting and your trying to get a bolt not even tinker-bell could get to, finally get it and you don't know which way to go haha. I also do the exact same "air check" ke70dave :y: -
Got a bit of work completed on the weekend, now sporting 5 gears instead of the stock 4, both front guards and bonnet are on, another coat of primer added, front apron sprayed in primer, radiator support sprayed. ke30 chrome front bumper on and gave her a service. Took it up to the hills yesterday with my brother for a scoot, found some ripper roads that are very tight and windy, cambered corners and all, just cut loose and had a ball. Rad Support before Rad support after old red and young red Safety first kids. I really like the import ke30 bonnet, real chrome inserts  Me and my brother at the top of the mountain.

Spoken to a few people and also read comments you guys have said about aussie export, It turns yellow after a few months ect. I have taken it all on board, thanks for the slap over the head. I'm now buying some paint and borrowing or buying my own paint stuff to do the entire respray. Wagon is booked in for an exhaust this morning at 10:30, 2inch sport system with a little dump tip nothing fancy, as the stock one is rattling and leaking everywhere. 4DRFRK - I'm assuming you are dan, red is growing on me and it would also be origionalish for a 38 wagon so I'm going to have to think about it, I like the fire stencil as well. Cheers, Crowie.

Lowered with tyres on rims 175/60/r14 still a long way to go. Want to lower it another inch in the rear and inch and a half on the front. I have a couple of idea's floating around that will make this thing stand out from other ke wagons, I'll do some experimenting and see how that goes. Also purchased some solex locks to go in my spare doors that are being prepped separate to the car, along with the bonnet and front quarters. Rough and a long way to go, finally getting some motivation to work on this thing, excited to get home from work and fix something before the day ends. Criticism welcomed.

Correct! ke70/ae86 camber tops do fit, though 1 hole needs to be moved 4-5mm. Although the adjustment can't be maxed out as the bolts hit the edge top hat locating hole. Is your car lowered? How are 7.5's illegal on a ke30? If the tires and rims are inside the guards it is legal, this includes modified guards.
