  1. Does the carby have the anti dieseling solanoid connected ?
  2. FYI Spent the night in the shed, Weighing 3k 4k flywheels. 3 were 7.9 to 8.0 kg 3 were 8.7 to 8.8 kg 5 were 9 kg ++++ Andy
  3. This is not uncommon. 3 options. Replace the jap calipers for the aussie one's. (This is the perferered option) Grind about 2mm off the caliper where it touches. (I have this done to my road car will cause you no problems) Extend the wheel studs, fit a spacer and while your there get a strut bend to give you some neg camber. CYA Andy
  4. Here's a wade 446b in action. With my 13 year old son driving. 3k, big port head shaved 60 thou, stock carby, open exhaust. Works best from about 4500 to 6800 but still useful to about 7300. The second half in car in more interesting than the first half, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBF6_7jxSt8
  5. Correct the sumps have different bolt patterns
  6. Ahhhh But you need a stock cam to get reground into something better.
  7. 1 k and 3 k carbs are basiclly the same. both run 28mm throttle body's the 1k had 21mm pre and 24mm Sec venturi's 3k's has a few varations on venturi sizes being 19 or 21mm Pri and 24 or 25 mm sec. There are also varations in the venturi booter area both 1k and 3k as there are variations of 7mm and 8mm across the board The 3k carb with the 25mm sec suffer's from atomisation issues in the primary low speed circuit, But that doesn't worry me As I don't like drive slow. Most 3k carbs have a anti dieseling valve, were the 1k's didn't, just unscrew the valve snip the end off and you have disabled it along with all of the issues it creates. The 3k carbs also has a hot idle compensator some internal and some external. All up there were about 60 different variants of the 3k carby, The above is what I've discovered. The throttle cable is different and the return spring as well Opps forgot one more thing the 1k throttle shaft is smaller so the carby may flow better, but then again get the 3k with the 25mm sec venturi it might flow better. However in a nutshell Yes it will bolt on, you will need to steal a 3k return spring and return spring bracket. The Bad news is the carbys are rubbish, I'd go for a weber if I could, We only run them cause the rules state we have too. Cheers Andy
  8. Have you got the firing order rights as well
  9. If you want to hear a 3k with hotdog only, login to www.nyoraspeedbowl.org.au You will hear it just as you login. OK for a speedway car but on the street to load BTW that's my 12 year old driving coming out of turn 2 Nyora speedway , But he was 10 when I sampled that. Cheers Andy
  10. Some have a divet while other have a big lump. Cheers Andy
  11. Hey Any chance you could measure the diameter of the inlet port and post some pix's of them as well ? Also if you run your finger along the top of the exhaust port travelling down toward the vavle is there a lump about 20mm in from the manafold face ? PS At least with low compression the bores wont wear too quick! Cheers Andy
  12. Yep Sure is explains the spares. This season 2 headgaskets and one set of melted Pistons. I think I'm on about my 5th rebuild for the season, and I had a few fresh ups 8 Months back. Throw in a rollover, a big hit in the rear, and one wall hit, Its been a big year One a postive note the current donk is pulling 500 more revs, With the same tyres and diff. Lets just say were getting our cam and exhaust sorted out. Cheers Andy
  13. Hmmmm My Wife says I have a 3k problem. I told her she's the only one, who has a problem with my 3k's. Cause to me not an issue.
  14. Altezza This is interesting. I have the same on a pulley, I assumed some one cut the marks in to check dissy timings at 10 deg intervals, I was wrong.
  15. I'm runnnig a wade 446b in my daily, It works well from 4000 to about 7000. Give Keith Russell a call from wade, He's the brains behind the old speco grinds and knows his stuff. Where running a shaved bigport, extractors thats all. Could be a bit lumpy for a auto. You could also try Clive from Clive cams he did all the development for Wade but moved on about 10 years back I just got a clive cam ground up, They got a pretty good rap, I'll tell you what its like in a few weeks. CYA' Andy
  16. Does any one know where I source 3k Aisan Carby Jets from ? I need some 183 's for the secondrys and some 114's for the primarys. Have attempted drilling some out but so far have failed in all attempts Thanks Andy
  17. I'd go for the diode seen this problem a few times and diode fix's
  18. There was a Bloke in Shepparton that rallyed a 3k with some strange head.
  19. Has anyone used this pump to create a vacum in the sump ?
  20. What kind of diff center ? The salisbury type swap over, you need to do both pinion and crown, and use the spacers / shims from the KE70 diff in the KE55 diff. Whats the ratio's Cheers Andy
  21. Hey any change of a photo the the combustion chamber
  22. Here's how I would do it I think Pop the engine out I would remove the struts. Undo steering box and idler arm from subframe, Option could be to disconnect ball joints here as well Undo steering coupleing, Undo K frame bolts from subframe Remove subframe There a proberly at least 6 ways of going about it, Depending on what every thing is like. Cheers Andy
  23. Yep I aggree. My Daily has 3k, shaved bigport, extractors, cam, a few kg's off the flywheel, goes hard and is fun to drive. Cheers Andy
  24. Sounds like you have all bases covered then , Have you checked the timing and replaced the air filter ? The compression figures look good, Is it auto or manual ? Andy
  25. If had the same problem a while back. There is a blead back valve in the filter that keeps the oil up to the head when the engine is shut down. The valve has shit its self. Put a z68 on it and you should be sweet. The good news is when you remove the old filter oil wont spill every where as it drained into the sump
