  1. I've noticed at about 145kph the window wipers lift off the windscreen, bugger when its wet. We constantily dyno around around 75hp rwh, bigport head shaved 60thou, std exhaust manfold no muffler. varing cams. The rest is pretty stock
  2. I'd have a look at Evans flywheel, A few kg's of the flywheel makes heaps of difference. Crow 606 vs 740 in 3k. Don't get me wrong the 606 is a nice cam, On the Race track the 606 is very forgiving and is usable to 7000 rpm. I am currently using this grind on my Daughters Speedway Car, Basic set up is 60 thou off a bigport head, 3kh carby with 21mm pri venturi and 24mm sec venturi. the exhaust is via a stock 2 outlet manafold and open 2inch exhaust. The crow 740 has more duration in the exhaust than the inlet and I think this may be why this is such a awesome cam. We gear for 6000rpm on corner exit and anything up to 8500 on entry, the 606 doesn't like the big revs however the 740 loves it. Set up again is similar 60thou off head and a longer exhaust but this one is 3inch and heat wrapped, Carby is off the late model 3k 21mm pri 25mm mech secondry's I'm also building a 4k for the street car its going to have the 740, downdraft Weber, ported bigport and extractors, I'm getting quite excited it fire it. I'll give you a report in a few weeks on how street-able the cam is. Other cams of interest.(3k) Clive 161 the boys running the datsun 12A love this cam, I hate it, just not impressive with our set up. Wade 446B Nice street cam pulls to 7000 usable to 7300, I do think the 606 or 740 are a better grind. Anyway have a chat to the blokes a CROW they know there stuff and I'd go with there recommendation.
  3. Also Keep a eye on eBay, new piston sets less than $100 and gaskit kits less than $100. Just make sure the gaskit kit is for 4k as sump bolt patten and timing cover gaskit are a little different
  4. We just changed the crow 606 for a 740 in one of our 3k race motors, Seems to pull good to 8000 and is usable to 8500. Don't forget to time the cam in, if you can run the engine in on a dyno do it, Lighten the flywheel and weigh the clutch, (they vary from 3.0kg to 4.5kg) Get the dissy recurved and don't run the carby lean as nothing kill's a new motor faster than detonation. Don't rev it with no load as you will destroy the ring sealing. Cheers
  5. We grind out all the casting defects from the head and block the paint the inside of the block, and have no oil issues with the 3k spinning to 8500. Here's a interesting link http://www.wallaceracing.com/oil-pump-hp-calc.php Cheers
  6. Here's how I did it http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/63457-ke30-manual-crossmember/
  7. Must admit those ae92 GTi look great, However where not too fussed, about the model so AE93, would be fine, its for Speedway Junior Sedan build, The Kids will bent them, The current 1200cc class is going to be replaced with 1600 fuel injected, front wheel drive only, So the KE30's have got to go. And as engine mods will be limited to head shaving and camshaft, I'm figuring 4age is the go, we should be able to swap heads, So my current path is AE82 with small port head and manifold, however my learning curve in Corolla AExx has only just started so I'd be happy to listen to your advise So expect plenty of questions :-) Cheers Andy
  8. Cool So for 4AGE I'm looking for AE82 EFI or a AE92 SX or GTI ? Correct ? Thanks All Andy
  9. Hi What engine options were there for the AE82 and AE 92 (4afe? and 4age ?) What corollas came out with the 4age, So I can narrow my seach options on eBay (Sega ? CSX ?) Can a 4afe be convertered to a 4age by swapping heads and EFI ect ect. Thanks Heaps Andy
  10. Just ordered some from techo tuning, The young blokes been lifting the front left on corner exit, been mucking around with spring rates, stableliser bar, caster and camber all I've achieved is a push on entry, and a loose exit. let you know how I go with the roll center lifted :-) Andy
  11. Hi Has anyone attempted to change the frontend roll centre by installing a spacer between ball joint bracket and the strut ? Thanks Andy
  12. We make max HP on the dyno at about 72 degrees, and never go past about 90 otherwise we start seeing bits of piston on the plugs.
  13. Hi All. Yeh I know i'm going to cope a flogging with this one. Was thinking about asking is there any difference between a KE55 sump and a KE70 sump, but thought better be honest. I am putting a 3k from a KE30 into a KE70, now I know the sump bolt pattern is different between a 3k and 4k so cannot use the orignal sump. Just want to confirm the KE30 sump will fit in without any mods ? Thanks Andy
  14. AE86 would be the pick but the coin is a bit too much. We currently race againt are few FWD cars and they lock there diffs some how ?, I know everyone bitches about how heavy the steering is. And yep everything gets stripped out, and doors, bonnent and guards get fiberglass replacments. Cheers Andy
  15. The first time screwdriver and Hammer, Ouch hard work! The Second time, went down and brought a air chisel works sweet, even better the buzzing sound pissed the neighbours off. Cheers Andy
  16. We just built a new speedway KE30 with 38mm cage came in at 720 Kg, We also reshelled a KE55 with a older 42mm cage 780Kg, We cut every bit of metal out that we legally could and only saved about 15kg.:-( Noting a speedway shell is gutted within a inch of its life, Fibreglass bonnet, boot, guards and side panels that replace the doors. Also the removel of the floor deading takes heaps of weight out. Cheers Andy
  17. Yeah bugger about the understeer, we gota lock the diff too, as per rules. Softer spings front, less sway bar, or stiffer at the back. Do they power steering, as more caster could help ? Also do they run a rear sway bar ? Is there much difference in weight between models ? Thanks
  18. Cool Thanks so far, So they Handle OK to start with and is there any problems getting good shocks and springs ? Not to fussed about engine HP as they will be pulled down to 3k HP figures with the plate. The Hole sizing within the plate is yet to be advised. Not too sure about the ECU rules yet.
  19. Hi All Need some advise please. Speedway Junior Sedan racing (Kids 10 to 16 yo) is undergoing a rule change. We are currently limited to cars that came out with 1200 cc engines. (ke30's) Over the next season or so, the rules are being amended to allow 1600 cc cars. The output of the engine will be restricted by use of a restrictor plate that will be mounted on the exhaust manifold. Diff front or rear must be locked. Suspension upgrades allowed will be springs and shocks noting that adjustable or competition type shocks will not be allowed. Thats about it for performance mods I'm told they basiclly want all cars to have simlar hp figures at the wheels so light weight could be an advantage. Looking for Advise on what would be a good AE model to start building up. Thanks Andy
  20. I've got one closed chamber head havn't cc'd its at my engine builder, its for a 3k, rules don't allow me to machine the pistons, so I was thinking, dished pistions to bring the CR down.
  21. Thanks Cameron So there is hope, thought they might be rare. 7ke what did they come in ? Hiace or something ?
  22. Yeh Si I'm the speedway guy from vic, got 2 kids racing now, double the damage. Yep saw em too 1300 bucks on 3k rocker gear, 4age or 3sge better option, Seen Datto 1200 dual outlet exhaust manafolds sell for $1000 to speedway guys thats just as bad.. Saw the pix of the 7k manafold looks like single outlet so no go. Might need to custom make that triangle gaskit, and make it one solid shape, Any suggestions here ? copper ? Alumimumim ect ect.
  23. Must have been a 4ku I saw a mid port on. I'm guessing say 20cc in the piston and 6 cc in the head, would be about 10 to 1 ?? on a 3k
