i'll give it a test tomorrow, and i'll report back here on what a t50 does with a 4.1 diff....

i'll just post an answer in here and one of the mods can split the topic.... The inlet manifold you have can be "hogged" out to create more air flow to the ports..however it is preferred to install some twin sidedraft 40mm webers or Su's for better fuel atomisation = more POWER! you can just about swap anything from a 4K to a 5K except of the rods and pistons.... cheers.

It could be also the sensor on the brake booster, if you've knocked the wires off the sensor, the light normally comes on the whole time. Well....it does in the 55's.

4K lifters are too small to use in a 5K as solids.... you have to find the right solid lifter by measuring the diametre and length and matching that to a chev lifter of the same sort. Then you can use A12 Datsun pushrods and 4k rocker gear to complete the conversion

Second Pic is my engine that was fully rebuilt about 2 years ago....still going strong ;). The head you see on it is a 3K bigport head, you wont get much bigger ports than that in a K engine head....those are just about the limit. I found that building my own engine, gave me alot more insight into what goes where and how to make more power....When i joined the club (just before i started the rebuild) i didnt know much about k engines.....now that i've rebuilt and worked on one many times, i can honestly tell you i don't regret any bit of spending money on a K engine (i'm still doing it lol). Felix is right, you wont really feel much difference between the 4K and 5K....torque and a bit more get up and go. And anyone that says you can't get a 5K to rev cause they are a "van engine" needs to have a look at some of the 5Ks on here....lol

Correct...make up a frame and hook up some electrics and away you go... The 5K i have only just got running hasnt been started for about 18months....and it basically started first go, with some choke and a bit of cranking....who said k motors werent reliable.. lol...

Atm its just a test stand....it may turn into a dyno if i can figure out how to hook something to the output of the engine... :) The engine hasnt actually run long enough for anything to heat up, there for no flammage....(didnt wanna piss off the neighbours with the noise)

well i figured out the bug that was in my system, and EEEEETTTS ALIVE!!!! The 5K i have on the stand atm roared to life at about 8:30 tonight....with no exhaust i might add....lol So next is hooking up the gauges i have sitting here and then running the engine for a bit :)

well......i thought i'd dig this up now that i've actually completed the stand and have an engine and gearbox sitting on it properly.....its a bit more primative to banjos, but its all still there...lol... i'll get piccys up sometime this week.
