  4. i was watching that storm roll in while standing on the beachfront in byron.....let me tell ya, it had no sign of hail until the first small one hit the window....then it was a mad dash to the undercover parking (which we found out there isnt alot of in byron). Leaving byron after the storm was an event in itself.....leaves and branches all over the roads, one very fuxxored merc and one very dented VE holden. Apart from the other various cars we saw with dents and smashed windscreens.
  5. Got home this arvo after a stopover last night in port macquarie, got to byron bay and had some lunch only to be interrupted by a hail storm that decided to rip through the area.....luckily i found a undercover parking lot to take cover in while it passed.....minimal damage to the corolla we were in....couple of dents in the roof and thats about it.
  6. Currently in Port Macquarie staying the night before the 7 hour trip home tomorrow.....bloody race was great.....got lots of footage, and because i'm a toyota man i didnt really give a shit who won.....lol.

Nice pickup.....its still got the 5k head on it though....Definately not a 3K bigport.
  10. You should probably do some more reading on how a dyno works then.....and how the readings can be affected by the gearing. Eg: Gearing: a chassis dyno is susceptible to gearing bias. Recorded power can be affected on a dyno graph by simply running the test car in too low or too high a gear. Dyno operators should pick the trans gear that is closest to a 1:1 ratio to avoid gearing bias. This ratio is 4th gear in most cars. In a 1:1 ratio, the two gears that make up a gear set are the same size. When one is larger than the other, either in a lower gear than 1:1 or a higher gear than 1:1, there are frictional losses that translates to less power put to the wheels. Also, too high of a gear that causes the test car to go to a top speed far greater than the available fan cooling capacity will produce invalid results.
  11. lol.....well i was hoping we could borrow one first....but if you want one for yourself, nows a fantastic time to buy one. :)
  12. Hi Guys... Wanted to borrow a small generator for our camping trip next week....will need it from the 2nd to the 9th Alcohol of your choice as payment...... IN BRISBANE Cheers.
  13. interesting they did the dyno in 3rd gear....4th is 1:1....3rd would give a different reading for sure.
  14. lol..... ^^^^^^^ agreed. Now i don't wanna hear another thing about it.
  15. FFS guys you should all know geoff by now, he likes to stir the pot...you know...yank your chain. ^^^^^^ those posts up there is exactly what he wants you to do. Get over it and stop posting crap in the thread.

  17. Even if it did work, you wouldnt achieve much in the way of more power.
  18. Apparently there was 1 motorcycle cop....and from what i hear only 1 car got defects.....
  19. Thanks doug....i think that may be the problem....you say you use 4K rods and the orginal lifters with the guts ripped out and the seat pushed to the bottom correct?
  20. Gday guys, just thought i'd dig this up as i have a problem with a car that i'm working on atm.....i wanted to see what you guys thought. Atm the car has a hydro cam in it, but we are converting to solid AT-992 Lifters and A12 pushrods.....it seems as though the a12's are too long to fit under the rockers.....the only thing i can think of is the pedestal height that is different. I think atm its got 3K late style rocker gear (steel posts).....would there be any merit in looking for different pedestals? Or do you think there may be something else at play? Thanks.
  21. I don't know where you guys get the info that he wants to swap an N/A motor.....it clearly says CA18 "DET"....which would designate a turbo motor. I based my first post on the DET motor as well....i know the N/A engines can be very shitful. Either way, if he wants 300hp out of one of them he's gunna have to spend some moolah on them.
  22. Depends on what you do to them really.....Protorque metal headgasket will get you a fairly reliable engine, i've had a little experience with these engines and the ones i've seen don't give up that easy. I don't know where they get the reputation that they are an unreliable engine.
  23. 60Kph Around the whole track, as it is a normal road when not in use for racing.
  24. Been there, done it.....going again in october hehehehehe
  25. No flaming needed....he just needs to use the inter-mah-net for what its actually good for.....EG: Research & info.
