I've got a '04 Tivo 2az-fe 5 speed, 150,000km. It took me from Brisbane to Melbourne and back for $520 full boot & full car. That's roughly 3650km. Fuel priced varied some what along the way though. It goes like the clappers when you give it stick. 2az

I've poured my heart and soul into this car and its my first project so I really appreciate the kind words. Thanks guys. :laff: Jamboree this year has been postponed till October so I'm planning on getting this thing down there. I haven't had any luck getting hands on a weber so I picked up a rebuild kit for the 3k carb and have proceeded to try and make it work. While I was down south I stopped at Bogabilla and found a hi-cam air box at the bummy wreckers there from an '84 ke70. Say hello to my Hi-Cam 5k.

You need to take your pants off. That's right! Take your pants off, throw them on the bonnet and ask her, "Do these pants fit, bitch?"

Good to see the old girl's ch-ch-ch-changes! Love IT! :y:

After extensive research I have determined I am wrong. PBR are liars.... The 21 spline clutch must be a T series box to 180mm flywheel. Exedy part numbers 19 spline - TYK-6036 - 180 x 21.6 x 19 21 spline - TYK-6280 - 180 x 24.1 x 21
-
There are 2 types of k series gearbox's. The common 19 spline & the rare 21 spline gearbox.

oh yeah...... 3k to 5k. Poo donkey! "But that's the motor that it came with".... Lifters aren't a requirement but expect valve float if you push it to 8grand. I've got .423" or 10.74mm with the Ivan Tighe 104 profile. I'm still using standard 5k springs but they do compress a fair way.

What's your cams specs? Is it custom? More than .04" valve lift they recommend a regraph! That info on the conversion is helpful. I was worried i'd need a mod plate for putting a 5k in a ke20. Yes, i am in Queensland and I will headbutt my way through Main Roads!!!

That green looks mean. The kind mean you wouldn't want coming outta your ass! If its a good coat you should hit that shit with some good clear. Matt green with a glossy sheen....

My first ke70 took 5 litres of oil on the first siervice I ever did. That would of been 9 years ago now... anyhow, the drive way caught most of it. I once drove 50km with the oil cap off my ae92 seca. I got to the BP in Beenleigh and as I got out of the car the attendant came out with the spill kit. The next week I did the same thing without the radiator cap...

Today I decided to take the sidedrafts off and see what the go it. I hate the lack of room around that damn manifold, as it took me over an hour to get the carbies and the manifold undone with my big fumbling mits. Once they were off I held them level and twisted open the throttle to see how much fuel they were squirting. Cylinder 1 - moderate, 2 - heaps, 3 - nothing, 4 - nothing.... no wonder it was running like dogs balls on chop day. I put the old 3k carb and bigport manifold back on and fire it up.... no more exaust leak, no idle unless i held the throttle open a few millmeters. Nowhere near enough fuel or air but at least I know the ignition works and its running on all cylinders. WOO HOO! I need this on the road now because my piece of shit ashtray broke down so it's sitting in dad's front yard gathering dust. So f@$k the sidedrafts for now! Since i've got the bp manifold and an adapter plate already i'm moving on to a 2 barrel weber. If you have a good one jetted to a 1.6L, gimme gimme gimme!!!!

I tried the 3k carb on my hot 5k this afternoon. Runs a shit load better than the piece of shit sidedraft solex's i've been f@$king around with for months. The engine has a 0.7mm overbore making it about 1566cc. The 3k carb makes a whistleing sound and the vac secondries are sucked open at idle. :no2: NOT ENOUGH AIR....

We got the whole thing back together and in yesterday. Still got problems... it's gotta go for a tune now. We've done all we can. It must be the carbies now. I think the fuel mixture is way to far out on all cylinders which is why I can't get it to run right.... I set the timing to 12 degrees and it starts first kick and it has spark on all cylinders, but you can remove the plug lead of a cylinder and it doesn't change its tone... Cranking pressure is between 160-170psi on all cylinders. There is an exaust leak at the extractors on cylinder 2 and 3 that I can't close up. Frustrating shit..... Got the JVC stereo in. Sounds good with just the 6x9's.

It's a pretty heavy engine. It would be great going in a straight line but when it comes to handling... :no2:
-
It would be like driving a elephant in a shopping trolley.
-
It's one thing to open the door. It's another to turn the ignition. PS: Your f@$ked!

Cheers bloke. Your a champ! The luck was on my side today with the pistons and gasket coming in early. Got some Penrite 20w60 and coolant while I was there. Something differenct though, the guys I went through for some reason couldn't get the ACL's at 0.020 over, but they got some i've never heard of...Nason! WAH POW!!! Some kind of Taiwanese product. I wasn't so sure to begin with, so I asked the questions while I was there. We had the vernier and the ACL product guide out. They came up spot on. At first I thought they'd got the 'wong' size. They had .50 stamped in the top. Der-fred! That's metric! For anyone interested to know they do appear to be an equal product without a real weight, metal composition or dish volume comparison (not necessarily superior, yet). Only visual difference I could see was that these pistons don't appear to have polished finish. The day ends with the bottom end back in and re-torqued. It's my birthday tomorrow, so I want to take this thing for a drive....
-
Yeah i've got the hone. I also order the new pistons and head gasket today. $180 for the pistons, not sure what it was for the gasket.

I've got a ke20 right hand and a ke30 left hand in my 20. The mounts sit half way down in the slots rather than all the way at the bottom. The engine moved about an inch upwards and rolled to the right a few degrees. It gave me enough room to fit the sidedrafts with 40mm trumpets. I can't see why it would be much different in the ke1#...
-
You can use the ke30 LH mount. Uprights the engine a couple of degrees and raises it a little too. It may also have a head shield.
-
Oh yeah. Here's something for you to laugh at. If your k engine sounds like this... then there is something very wong! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmFn1sm1DMM

Pulled the donk today. Got the pistons out. They are for sale. The bore is still very clean so i'm pretty lucky the pistons didn't break.
