  2. I'm going to start logging the degradation of this vehicle. Over the past 3+ years since the body work, rust and paint flakes are coming through. Not overly interested in trying to save her. I've had my fun, spent a small fortune and have learned many lessons. Next time I'll start with a much better body. I'm just gonna drive her till she can't drive no more. Then ill rebuild the motor again for another rolla.

  4. What you have is a dished piston 5k with a 4k or 5k flat top head. I would call this someone's disaster. There is a 6mm difference in head heights between the flat top or 'O' dish piston motors & the dished 'D' shaped piston motors. Large compression chamber for the flat tops and small chamber for the bit D dished motors This results in a 6mm difference in pushrods length hence the chopped and welded pushrods. Massive carbon build up indicates poor combustion due to very low compression or a rich fuel mixture. The original stuff you need to fix this isn't easy to find because nobody knows what they are looking at. In your position the easiest and safest fix is as follows Buy a rebuild kit with the flat or 'O' shaped pistons. Find another camshaft, yours is cracked anyway. Have it reground to a new and solid lifter profile. Do the chev/ Datsun solid conversion. Holden 202 solid lifters and Datsun A12 pushrods. It's your only sure way to get that engine running in the near future
  5. I put ke55 shocks and springs in my ke20 with 1&1/2" lowering blocks. It does not make it any better and its possibly worse. The springs are basically identical. You really need a short stroke shock with reset springs.

  8. Rubber in the spring seats. Just take the rubber out. As long as the spring is trapped properly you won't notice a difference.
  9. What drips out of the back of the carb and why would you want the other to do it? Carbs shouldn't leak anything.
  10. How long do you want it too last and how much money do you want to spend. Block dipped, bored 1.5mm, blue printed Dry sump oil feed You could have your crank knife edged, shot peened & polished Forged and shot peened conrods Polished and balanced cam with grind Roller rockers on a micro polished rocker shaft with double valve springs Over sized titanium valves Ceramic coated extractors Electric fuel pump to delete mechanical Crank angle sensor with quad coils or magneto ignition. I could just go on.
  11. If I use regular unleaded in my 5k it knocks and runs on also. I use premium 95 and sometimes it'll knock depending on the quality of the fuel. I use 98 where ever possible but I then suffer problem with a rough idle. It's official fuel is shit, overrated and expensive. Around $1.68 AU for 95ron
  12. I'm going to say yes. The 3kb carbs use the same gaskets kits as the singles. You may find the accelerator pump and/or needle and seat differ slightly. If you can not find any info on the inter google there'll be only one way to find out.

  14. I left home at 5:30 picked my bro up at 6is and headed out to Hamilton. We hung around the hotel till about 7:15. Figured no ones coming because no one ever does. Headed up to Morayfield BP for fuel and chow. Then continued up the Bruce and onto the Sunshine Mwy. Detoured pass the airport and onto the coastal road David Low Way for the rest of the journey up to Noosa headland. Took a 1 & 1/2 hr bush walk out to Hell's Gates which looked like this... From there we headed back to Caloundra via Maroochydore and Mooloolaba and stopped at Kings Beach for some fish and chips. Then it was back onto the motorway for the long as drive home. Back in Beaudesert at 3. The rolla got heaps of attention and is a real joy to drive. I had a great day out but I think there's about 199km of highway driving too much. Became very draining very quickly.

  17. I'm keen. I would like to confirm a route/destination and make sure others are attending before I make the hour + journey to the starting line. 7am is fine. 7:30/8 would be better. If nowhere in particular is planned yet I can definitely find somewhere curly to burn up.

  19. I didn't see a great deal of detail in his build thread. 2 pages of quickies and 4 pages of people giving him props. I'm pretty sure, in regards to the power figures he recieved for the Mitsubishi, Mercury Motorsports has a pretty gnarly reputation for grossly over rating their power figures.

  23. My ke70 5speed is awesome tight.
  24. Webers dig it at 2.5 - 3.5 psi. I'm using a stock k motor pump on my 32/36 dgv. Stock pumps move 2.8 - 4.3 psi from factory.
  25. Yeah they've been retrimmed but are pretty shot. The driver seat back rest is starting to bend and they have no support what so ever.
