O really? :D What would everyone recomend engine mods wise?

Hey Guys I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla Conquest and am looking to do an engine swap. Does anyone know what engine will go into this fairly easily, and reasonably inexpensive but still give good power? Or am i better just to modify the existing engine? The car needs to compy with QLD P Plate laws so no turbos or superchargers. Thank you for any help you can offer. Bob
