  1. Well, Steve at Pharley's did the job. In and out in the 1 day too ! Great work and a great price - you can't ask for more than that. So if you need work on your Rolla talk to Steve first - highly recommended ! :) Just before the clutch went in the AE82, I was going to unload it and get a Celica GT4 Group A, but the AE82 drives so well now I might just hang onto it for a while longer......! Neil. :P
  2. Gidday Steve, Thanks - would love to give the work to someone who is a member of the club ! I'll contact you shortly to arrange. Neil
  3. Happy new year to all ! I have a standard AE82 h'back (not Twincam, unfortunately !) with 184K on clock with a clutch that is playing up (slips, etc) so with those Ks on original clutch, time for a new one I think. Any rec's for a reasonably priced supply/fit place in Canberra ? Is that a motor out job and what sort of $ would I expect to pay ? thanks. Neil
  4. Yes - for a stock AE82 1.6 Carby Hatchback. I think they are stock standard braces, but arn't stamped "Toyota". The car has never had strut braces fitted before - stickers are still over the 2 holes in the firewall. Nick is probably right though. Got them off a guy in Tassie for $30. I dunno about elsewhere in Oz, but wreckers here in Canberra want too much $ for parts like these.
  5. I dunno what a "tri strut brace" is, but this one is in 2 parts. Each part goes from the strut tower to the firewall (there are 2 pre-drilled holes in the firewall, inside the engine bay). They line up to the pre-drilled holes perfectly. Each brace is stamped "L" (which I presume is passenger side) or "R" (presumably drivers side). I carn't see that it woulk matter whicjh side went onto the firewall first either - but you never know.......
  6. Does the drivers side strut brace go onto the firewall 1st, and the passenger side over the top of that one - then bolted through ? Or the reverse ? Does it really matter ? Pics I've seen show it both ways. Thanks. Neil
  7. Looking to give a standard AE82 h'back a bit of "attitude" on the road. As part of that, I'm looking at Kingsprings superlows (30-35mm lower) but these might be a little too low for my liking. Anyone know of a sort/brand of springs that wont drop the car as much as superlows ? Not planning a body kit at present though. There is a set of 4 new Kingspring superlows on eBay now for $220 - is that a reasonable buy ? thanks.
  8. Here is a link to a Weber 32/26 carby for sale on eBay Oz : http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...me=STRK:MEWA:IT Does anyone know if (with an adaptor plate), it would be worthwhile performance wise fitting this to a 1.6 carby AE12 hatchback (1986 model). Would have to get a pro to fit it so even more $ involved. Possibly it would be worthwhile having a kit fitted to overhaul the Weber before fitting anyway. Not sure about under bonnet clearance, but should be ok. Amyone know if the standard, round shap air filter box (which sits on top of the current standard carby) would still fit this Weber ? All comments/views greatly appreciated. thanks.
  9. Gidday All, I have a AE82 CS Hatchback (1986) - only 150K genuine K's on the clock. Boring white. Great car. Used to belong to an old fella in Cooma so I've just got mags for it off someone in the Twincam.com group in Sydney. Still looking for a AE82 Hatchback Twincam rear wing, bigger carby and extractors/headers as the next bits. I've got 3 kids (+ wife + dog) so don't have much opportunity to attend things - and I'm in my mid 40's so probably a bit out of the age group of most here I suppose, but I will get to as much events as possible. :( Brett, what rally team ? Do you know a guy called Mike Morris from the Brindabella Motor Sport Club ? He ran in the ARC a few years ago in the Corolla Cup and later also ran Rick Bates old Celica GT4 in the NSW Rally Championship. Good to see some local attention being given to rolla's - good things they are :D - Neil
