  1. Went and looked at the 1.8 sedan.Great mechanical condition but quite a few scratches and scrapes. Didn't really do it for me.Reassessing the situation at the moment.Been driving my 4AGE most of the weekend, don't think I am ready to sell it just yet.
  2. Well guys I decided not to buy my Dads car.Too slow even for my wife.Lovely car, drives great, but not for me. Great to hear nothing but good reports as I expected, after all,its a Toyota. This Corolla is my Dads 8th Toyota, with 7 being bought brand new. Yes he likes Toyota's. I have found an AE102R conquest sedan that might be for sale, one owner, auto(I would prefer manual, but, hey),kept garaged,60,000km's.Friend of a guy at work.Sounds very good. Going to look at it on Saturday.Hoping it is as good as it sounds,mmm,7AFE,ahh,thats better.
  3. Great. Thanks guys. Redwarf, yes it is far from a powerhouse, not really my cup of tea but it is for my wife who quite likes the idea of an auto again, but damn it is slow. Only reason I am looking at this is because she doesn't like driving my ae71 anymore.Might have something to do with the bigport under the bonnet :) Timing belt and all drive belts have already been done at 94k.Will check out the exhaust heatshields,I think you are on the money there. Thanks for the tip on the bypass hose. Will look out for it. Jono, sorry mate if I was looking for an ae112r would source one in WA.
  4. Hi guys, the wife wants to buy my Dads 1999 Seca and wondering what I should be looking out for in the way of common issues with them. The car is a 1.6 auto and has done only 98K. Took it for a spin last night and on a quick left turn it has a slight noise which sounds a little bit like a CV joint but at this low km's I would have been surprised. It has done mostly country runs and not been a shopping trolley.Has a slight rattle for the exhaust also,so hoping they might be related. Any tips? Sorry, being a 1.6 should have said AE101R.My mistake.
  5. I used the original 4ac top hose cut shorter.Fits fine.
  6. Hi guys, newbie here.Just getting to the end of a 4age into AE71 conversion and wondering what to do about an air filter.Any chance of some suggestions and maybe pics? Will a pod direct onto the throtttle body clear the bonnet? Help would be appreciated.
  7. Time to buy a new multimeter.Still had no negative pulse at injectors.Decided to feed power to an injector to see if I could here it go click.Seemed to test ok.Connected back up and cranked the engine.Fired once.Tried a few times got to where it would fire everytime I tried.Left it for a while and tried again. Was firing more.Witha bit of coaxing I managed to get the engine to run(roughly).Sounded like it was only on 2 cylinders and it was. With it running I started disconnecting the injectors one at a time to see what difference they made.Found cylinders 2 and 3 were not working at all. Fed power to them to check their operation(individually).Connected back up and bingo,4 cylinders.Still not running right of course but they are all pulling their weight.Looks like the injectors will need to come out. The best thing is that I now know the engine is good before I drop it in the car.No smoke,no rattles, starts easy now. Now wheres my chain block?
  8. Thanks for the replys guy.Medicine man,I have checked wiring from injectors to ECU and circuit seems fine. Monkey wrench, thanks for the offer but unfortunately I am in Perth so a little far away.So are you saying that if the ECU has no signal from the distributor it will still have spark? I will check continuity from ecu to the dizzy and try and find a voltage spec whilst cranking.
  9. Hi guys, need some help with a 4age I am trying to get running. It appears to have no pulse to the injectors. The spark is fine and the engine will start and run for a couple of seconds if you manually feed it fuel through the intake. The engine is an AE86 big port with a MAP sensor. All the earths appear fine.I have power to the injectors but no negative pulse. The engine had previously been fitted to ke70 and was supposed running fine when it was parked up.It has sat for about 5 years. Any ideas on what could be the cause? One thing which seems odd to me is that the TVIS solenoid is energised when the ignition is turned on.I would not expect this to be normal but having little experience with these engines I would not know.
